In China there’s a hunger for democracy...
Policy (Original Lyrics)
In China there’s a hunger for democracy,
this is something that’s come easily to me.
Minds with new ideas lay dead and dying,
cut short and swiftly, for trying to be free.
Within this country of ancient dignity,
deep rivers flow down to burgeoning seas.
But just as on every other continent,
the wonder of written language
has become its detriment.
(CHORUS)
The written word can bind a man
and hold him from his freedom,
liberty’s a natural right,
but nature’s had enough.
I want to reconsider
the greatness
of the Great Wall,
as we sit silently blind
avoiding the truth
awaiting the fall.
(CHORUS)
The written word can bind a man
and hold him from his freedom
liberty’s a natural right
but nature’s had enough.
Other walls have fallen,
penned people flood the gates
rejoicing to the sky
over land which just moments ago
was forbidden to them,
wouldn’t you know
shouldn’t we
know.
In China there’s a hunger for democracy,
is this something that’s come easily to me?
