Song Lyrics
I've been sitting like an IslandComfortably curled up insideI've been looking but not finding thingsThat will make me satisfiedI'm a master of my own mind...
I've been sitting like an Island Comfortably curled up inside I've been looking but not finding things That will make me satisfied I'm a master of my own mind games What I don't ike I push aside I've complete control ore' my domain I create these special lies
If you're looking to find me Well I fear it's much to late For I'm lost here in these woods my dear And they've closed and locked the gate And sometimes for a moment I think I can see the sky In the sky's my freedom For it's there that I can fly
In the Texas Sky
So if you find you're sitting On an island of your own You're sitting back just watching As the clouds gently roam And if by chance you recognize Some special cloud you see Don't fantasize just realize That friendly cloud is me
In the Texas Sky

I can't believe I haven't commented on this song before now. Every time I hear it on one the Mix DJ shows it captivates me...it's right in the pocket of the acoustic style of Stephen Stills that I like.......well done with this fine piece of songwriting and performances!

I can't believe I've never heard this song up until now. That's what's so great about the mix though. There is so much talent / music here, that it's hard not to be able to find something new to listen too. I think your lyrics are very well written. And the song has a very catchy melody. I've really enjoyed my listen. Thanks for sharing & sorry it's taken me so long to find your music.
All The Best,

A really pretty beat and guitar intro to Texas Sky. I agree, a real Peter Gabriel sound to your wonderful vocals singing these super words. A really catchy song, great instrumentals! Enjoyed my visit. Wishing you well, Melsi

I was born in SE Missouri, and raised in that rural midwest way. I grew up in and around the church as my dad was a preacher and my mom played piano and sang.

I learned to swim in the Mississippi river, played in corn fields, and grew up to be a teen in the 70s smokin lots of weed and rebelling against nothing.

I was an awkward loner of a teen and music was my escape. I loved CSNY, Pink Floyd, Genesis, James Taylor, Harry Chapin, Cat Stevens, The Beatles and everything else that had some depth. As soon as I started playing guitar I began to try to imitate what I was listening to. I started writing not long after I picked up the guitar. I always had plenty of agnst to drive the music. I also had lots of advice as I knew everything.

I moved to Houston in 1980 at the age of 20. I started playing out locally and began opening for some of the great Texas Singer/Songwriters like Shake Russell, John Vandiver and David Rodriguez. I was in awe of these guys and they spurred me on.

Through the 80s I played here and there and continued to write. I met my wife in 1990 and we moved to Austin where I got serious about pursuing music. I signed a management and publishing deal with Mark Hybner and recorded a few songs with Mark Hallman at Congress house. Brad Kopp (Jimmy Dale Gilmore) and Mark Hallman (Dan Fogelberg) played on and produced my tunes. Then the kids started coming and life got in the way; music was put on the back burner.

We moved to Iowa in 1995 and I continued to write but without putting too much effort into it. Starving and supporting a family has a way of making music less important.

In 1999 I moved to Vermont where I was able to setup a studio and work on music.

In 2003 I released the album that I started in 1992. Two songs were recorded in Austin, the rest in my studio/office in Vermont.

I am continuing to work on my next album.
