Song Lyrics
There is no luckIt's push and shoveYou make your breaksWith sweat and bloodAnd some may bleedTill banks run dryTo live againAnother TryAnd through the fire...
There is no luck It's push and shove You make your breaks With sweat and blood And some may bleed Till banks run dry To live again Another Try
And through the fire and thunderous blows We come to see we have no foes And sparks do fly and the black smoke boils As slag burns off onto the soil
First turned out then turned within Five hundred times then turned again Luminesence grows higher and higher
We are the steel of the Blacksmith's Fire
The hottest forge makes strongest steel And every blow that does not kill Creates a blade that's feared by kings The truest strength the pounding brings
And though some sleep ten thousand years They will awake give wings to fears There comes a time for every sword To be complete to leave the forge
First turned out then turned within Five hundred times then turned again Luminesence grows higher and higher
We are the steel of the Blacksmith's Fire

Hiya I've not heard any of your songs before. I went to your homepage and read your bio. I liked the way you put this song together. It has that pro quality that many would kill for. Music is good, but the vocals are excellent. Great song

I was born in SE Missouri, and raised in that rural midwest way. I grew up in and around the church as my dad was a preacher and my mom played piano and sang.

I learned to swim in the Mississippi river, played in corn fields, and grew up to be a teen in the 70s smokin lots of weed and rebelling against nothing.

I was an awkward loner of a teen and music was my escape. I loved CSNY, Pink Floyd, Genesis, James Taylor, Harry Chapin, Cat Stevens, The Beatles and everything else that had some depth. As soon as I started playing guitar I began to try to imitate what I was listening to. I started writing not long after I picked up the guitar. I always had plenty of agnst to drive the music. I also had lots of advice as I knew everything.

I moved to Houston in 1980 at the age of 20. I started playing out locally and began opening for some of the great Texas Singer/Songwriters like Shake Russell, John Vandiver and David Rodriguez. I was in awe of these guys and they spurred me on.

Through the 80s I played here and there and continued to write. I met my wife in 1990 and we moved to Austin where I got serious about pursuing music. I signed a management and publishing deal with Mark Hybner and recorded a few songs with Mark Hallman at Congress house. Brad Kopp (Jimmy Dale Gilmore) and Mark Hallman (Dan Fogelberg) played on and produced my tunes. Then the kids started coming and life got in the way; music was put on the back burner.

We moved to Iowa in 1995 and I continued to write but without putting too much effort into it. Starving and supporting a family has a way of making music less important.

In 1999 I moved to Vermont where I was able to setup a studio and work on music.

In 2003 I released the album that I started in 1992. Two songs were recorded in Austin, the rest in my studio/office in Vermont.

I am continuing to work on my next album.
