Well, I be told the story goes that this guy named Henri Cabot hit this big rock back on Canada's east coast in 1498, called it Newfieland (the last place to become a Canadian province -1949).
He met some Vikings still hanging around there who welcomed them with Moosehead Beer and then shortly come some Native Mikmacs and said, "you got room there,aye? look!!!- we got these big white birds", can we cook them over your fire"? No problem mon ami naked dudes", said Cabot. So to this day people in Canada have roasted 'seagulls' along with their mashed potatoes with gravy and peas.
