Rainbow
The woman sat with aged hands rested at her knee
And she turned and laid her fading, wise and gentle eyes on me
The shadows of her beauty were so arresting to behold
And echoed in her face were the stories she had told
It’s time to sing of rainbows, fleeting brilliant in the sky
Tears and smiles together chase the deeper shades of fear
Soaring colours circling, thunder laden lie
Love and life together take the truest heart to bear
I can see your sadness, come soulful, sorry child
And sit and talk with me and watch the heavens for a while
Pay the price of badness with a willing open heart
And listen to the wisdom of the secrets I impart
Oh what richness I can feel within my grasp
If I could only cast the coldness from my mind
Oh what joy is lost in the search for something more
When happiness lies waiting at my door
I sat down close beside her and smelled the summer in her hair
I never felt such warmth and peace of the kind she had to share
Mother, sister, daughter, and unconditional friend
The sweetest truth she taught me, life takes courage to the end
It’s time to sing of rainbows, fleeting brilliant in the sky
For tears and smiles together chase the deeper shades of fear
Soaring colours circling, thunder laden lie
Love and life together take the truest heart to bear
