GuitaristWorks Interviews....

By Admin, 2007-02-04

GuitaristWorks Interviews are back!

This was always one of my favorite features of GuitaristWorks. There is something about reading someone's posts but it is a completely different ball game when it comes to hearing an interview with them. You really have an opportunity to get to know them a bit better with the interviews. We used to post these in the forum but now with the artist pages, we wiill post them over here.

Do not be surprised if you get asked to participate in an interview! You can hear StrongTom interview GeorgeShep HERE.

Great interview guys!

MP3 Player Continued

By Admin, 2007-01-05

The Artist Pages new popup player uses an embeded Windows Media Player. I strongly suggest you upgrade WMP to version 11. Because this is an embedded player, you can still use winamp or whatever player you normally use for mp3, wav's etc. but the popup will always use the windows media player. If you have questions, please post them HERE.
Thanks!

A new dawn begins

By Mysticpain, 2006-11-07

I went ahead and upgraded my account here. I was playing in an inspirational rock band for a while over the past few months. Well, due to creative differences with other members I am no longer a part of that. I am back to doing home recording and on the lookout for a new band in my area. Stick around, stay tuned, and leave feedback. I am hoping to get cool recordings up soon!

Also, anyone in the guitaristworks.com community or perhaps not in the community... if you would like to do some collaborations I am game for that.

Whats this all about?

By ptho, 2006-10-19

The name really says it all, there are some issues that really **** alot of people off. I'm sick of turning my nose away and pretending that it doesn't bother me. So with a few of my friends I figured this would be a good outlet for some ranting. These lyrics are opinions. Not meant to hurt anyones feelings, not meant to sound like the right or the left. I live in the United States of American (which I love dearly). That gives us a right to voice our opinion. I hope you like what you hear, if you don't thats ok.

Remember, you have Freedom of Choice - cherish it.....................

I, Publius

By Publius, 2006-09-10

I am the common man. I celebrate the same things most of us do, listen to the same music as most but as an artist myself, like to branch out and stretch myself by learning and listening to others' music.
I am here to offer constructive critique for band posts. I'm not a progessional sound engineer nor do I have CD sales to back up my opinions.

I am simply, common.

Saturday Afternoon

By georgeshep, 2006-09-08

Today I found some old photos. One from as far back as 9th or 10th grade. I was in Bye Bye Birdie-- my first big guitar stage experience. What fun that was!

I posted this in the "Vocalist" section of the Forum, but I don't know how many people visit there. So I put it here, too.

This morning I revisited a book I read about 6 years ago named "Uncommon Genius". It's a great interesting book about the creative process.

In "Uncommon Genius", Denise Shekerjian interviewed 40 different people about their creative processes. The yardstick she used was that they were all winners of the McArthur award.

In the book she distilled 8 points she found in common with all the winners:

1) Find your talent
2) commit to it and make it shine
3) Don't be afraid of risk or failure (the game is really never over). Seen the the proper light, risk and failure bring both insight and opportunity.
4) Find courage by looking to something stronger and better than your puny vulnerable self.
5) Noo lusting after quick resolutions. Relax. Stay loose
6) Get to know yourself; understand your needs and the specific conditions you favor.
7) Respect, too, your culture. We can't, any of us, escape the twentieth (now twenty-first) century. It's tucked up around our collective chin as snugly and as firmly as the bedsheet.
Then, finally, break free from the seductive pull of book training and research and the million other preparatory steps that could delay for the entire span of a life and immerse yourself in DOING IT NOW.

Great great great book. I loved these 8 points she makes. The last one is the most important, to be sure.
