Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to take a moment and apologize for not being around as much lately as well as the next 4-6 weeks. As some of you know, my family and I are in the process of finally moving back to Colorado. We have talked about it in the past but this time it is a reality. Our goal is to be up there some time after Thanksgiving. It will be nice to be back home in an area we love and want to raise our kids in. Even if we can't find a house to rent lol.

It has been a draining process packing not to mention getting the house ready to sell. My stress level is probably the highest it has ever been. So I am probably guilty of elevating my wifes blood pressure so I do apologize for that.

Anyway, I will do what I can to fix anything that needs to be fixed and the other admins and mods will always be here to help.

Thanks again for supporting Mixposure everyone. You are truely a class act!

Dazed

Hi Guy's I may be a new name to you but am just getting to know about the different sites on the net to post my songs. The fist song that I have posted is a song called expatriated and is a protest song about all of the lives lost in the recent wars and what for. I am very passionate about the subject and wanted it to sound a little spagetti western as there is needless loss of lives and the whole thing could be pictured as the Wild West.

Album Title: So Much For Promises

Artist: Sebastian
Review by Rhonda Readence

Sebastian Teufel, founder and creative genius behind the band Yellow Jumps Twice, has released a 9-track collection of his brilliant solo work, the likes of which artists such as Richard Butler and Peter Murphy should be envious. The album So Much For Promises kicks off with the track “Something Wrong,” and one may immediately make the association to the Psychedelic Furs and Richard Butler’s gravelly and slightly nasal, yet immensely appealing, voice. Sebastian’s vocals are eerily reminiscent of this, but there is an edge to it that makes it unique to only him and ensures that no one will mistake him for anyone he is not.

“Something Wrong” is wonderfully written with powerful lyrics that exude honesty and emotion. This piece is very well-composed and the listener will surely be hooked after hearing the leading track of So Much For Promises. The next song, “Modesty,” begins with a bluesy beat that morphs into a rhythm with a slight country essence. The style here cannot be easily classified, which makes it intriguing and a pleasure to listen to. Keeping in mind that Sebastian is not only the composer and singer of these songs, but also that he plays all his own instruments too, the pure talent that comes to light during “Modesty” is astounding.

Sebastian slows down the pace with “Closer To Hell,” with a simplicity that is endearing. It starts with only Sebastian’s voice and his acoustic guitar and remains a very basic composition throughout. The lyrics are deep and touching, bringing forth feelings of melancholy and bittersweet heartbreak. Sebastian sings with candid honesty and his guitar playing is the perfect compliment to his quietly sincere words. It is during this track that the listener gets a better appreciation for the way Sebastian makes a six string come to life in his hands.

“This Ship Is Sinking” is also a slower tune and the piano playing is full of darkness and sweet sadness. The vocals are strong, and Sebastian seems to find his niche in this song. He keeps this piece simple as well, mostly vocals and piano. There is a calming sensation that exudes a sort of peacefulness that is heavy and uplifting at the same time. An odd combination, yet Sebastian manages to pull it off. “I’ll Be With You” is a touch lighter, and guest vocalist Lonna Ines Klassen is the perfect companion to Sebastian. She balances his voice well and this duet is wonderfully performed. Keeping it simple and flowing, “I’ll Be With You” is a great collaboration and is placed strategically on the album, as it eases the listener out of the darker aspects of So Much For Promises and paves the way into “Jeer From Hell.”

Strong acoustic guitar work begins this piece and the sound is mellow and smooth. Sebastian’s voice is slightly off key, which would perhaps detract from the song, but surprisingly it adds to the charm of it instead. “Jeer From Hell” is classic Sebastian Teufel and listeners will simply adore it. “Foresee” is a melancholy tune that is deeply thought out and will no doubt leave listeners with much to ponder. One of the more intimate and desolate tracks on the album, it is bound to become a fan favorite and would be fantastic to see performed live. Sebastian’s guitar playing is nothing short of stellar and his talent truly shines. This is perhaps the most solid song on the album with regards to being lyrically and musically perfect. Despite dark lyrics, “Desperado” has an upbeat feel, and Sebastian once more fascinates his listeners with his unique vocals. This piece will leave fans with a sense of hope, as long as they hear Sebastian’s lyrics and take heed of them. This is a song of strength and defiance, of being able to carry on in the face of diversity. And it is exceptionally well done.

So Much For Promises closes with “Good Night Good Night,” which is a lovely lullaby that is haunting and beautifully performed. The guitar work is soothing, the vocals are soft, and this track is the perfect ending to the album. Sebastian has indeed captured the heart with this offering and his talent is undeniable. Brimming with emotion, honesty, and clarity of vision, So Much For Promises is an album that will be sure to make people think and feel. This is an easy task, but Sebastian Teufel has done it with admirable ease.

Review by Rhonda Readence

Rating: 4 stars (out of 5)

These will be a variety of different topics created by Mixposure Members. Mistah_A has submitted the first one and with luck we will have more soon.

We have added a banner on the Main Mixposure Page and will be adding various images around the site to link people there. We also hope to have the review system in place soon.

As mentioned, if you are interested in writing about something please let us know. We would like to cover all sorts of different music topics! I need people that will be dedicated to writing. One or two articles a month would be great. So if you want to do articles about "concert reviews" but you only attend one concert a year, this would probably not be a great topic for you. But if you are a studio musician and you want to write about your personal experiences, you probably have a lot to share! All we ask is that it is something you are passionate about and would have fun writing!
