I own and run a soundstage/recording studio called Painter Loops Media, primarily aimed at live-streaming. We also make music videos and do some freelance post-production for other companies and their clients. Our building is located on my property. We have some acreage in the beautiful North Willamette Valley south of Portland, Oregon. I have been a lifelong working musician.
I was fascinated by our piano as soon as I could reach the keys. I started lessons at age 5. At about age 10 I received a trumpet and an acoustic guitar from my father. A few years after that at 13 l played my first paying gig. I was fronting a little pop band on trumpet playing Herb Alpert and other mid 60s bands. I was playing with older guys and when they left town for college I picked up the bass. Around that time I started a real rock band writing original songs and playing covers of Grand Funk, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, and what ever was hitting the charts.
Those musicians from my childhood became my touring companions till I was in my mid 30s. We really saw the world, often playing 325 days a year and living in hotels and band houses. The other 40 or so days were spent traveling between venues. We loved the road. If I knew then what I know now, I probably would have tried to move to LA or New York and work at getting signed. However, that was never in the cards for us because we had gotten very used to getting paid, not paying to play. Plus, we looked at it like this: “where else can you be on a permanent paid vacation where you are the center of attention and the life of the party”?
The musicians in that band, "Nasty Habit", are like me, all lifelong working players and in their late 60s and early 70s. I produced a documentary about them in 2020. It can be seen on YouTube.
During that lifetime, I finished college in 26 years. (I am a late bloomer). My graduate degree is in GIS and Urban planning. I spent two decades helping turn the world you know from paper maps into Map Quest, Google Earth, and many of the government maps you use every day. I was also a journey level carpenter, a sound engineer both for live bands and studio work. I have owned sound systems for more than 50 years. Some of the engineers and light techs I have worked with have gone on to do great things.
I have construction background in residential, commercial, and more. So when I knew I would be retiring from government work, I decided to build Painter Loops Media. You should see this place. It is absolutely stunning. I built it from the dirt to the finish line in about 8 years. We opened in 2017 and have always been extremely busy.
Now I have taken a step back to record, produce and market a lifetime of personal songwriting. It was and is my first love when it comes to music. I play 5 or six instruments, mostly just barely well enough to get paid for it. I feel my only real skill has always been writing and arranging. I LOVE Music!! All of it! Every kind, all ages and genres. It is the closest thing to magic, coming to life in your hands. So, never tell me that the music you listened to when you came of age and really began to listen is the best there is. It is all the best there is. Anything else is just nostalgia for a time you were free.
I wrote music almost every day, and I am old now. With my songs, I lived them, then I wrote about it. They are all me, from the barroom brawls, to the broken hearts, to the triumph that is true and lasting love. I am that unvarnished man who lived a lifetime doing the things I loved. I highly recommend you do the same. (Then write about it. Make some songs. Put them on Mixposure or (you know). Which brings us to my albums. “PERSISTENCE” and “EVENING STARS” These represent my life and legacy, and I am proud to call anyone who likes them a friend and fellow traveler. It is up to you to listen or not. Your time is precious, so use it well. I thank you in advance. There will be more.
BUT ENOUGH ABOUT ME! It’s time for day drinkin!!

December 2025 Artist Of The Month is Hooyoosay Song Of The Month from Sean Winthrop!
By JimsAE, 2025-12-01
About Hooyoosay: "It was this occasional recording jam that gave birth to hooyoosay , a couple of guys playing some cover songs just for the fun of it, but eventually resulting into an online-stores release.
As some of these guys had their reasons for remaining anonymous, it was decided simply not to credit anyone at all.
Then later, when things further developed into an organized project, this initial coincidence was maintained as a principle: no credits, no live gigs.
So hooyoosay became this peculiar music recording project, having a variety of unnamed and frequently changing collaborators, inevitably displaying a wide diversity in taste and in styles with each release."

I was just checking my streams payout on CD Baby and saw that more than a hundred of my song streams from Spotify and YouTube Music were deducted as being ineligible. So CD Baby deducted those amounts from my total payout. I've been with CD Baby for 25 years and never had this problem before this rip off. After doing some digging it appears that Spotify and YouTube Music have flagged these songs as having artificial streams generated by Bots. I have never used a service to generate or bolster my streams. CD Baby gets charged from those distribution companies and passes the fee on to their customers. I'm not the only one this has happened to. So as of now I've removed Spotify and YouTube Music as distributors for my music. The other distributors (Tidal, Amazon, Apple etc.) will continue to stream my songs. Just some FYI and venting on my end. They Sux!

MIXPOSURE RADIO PREMIERE: ROBERT PETERSON AND THE CRUSADE’S
“COMING OUT OF BABYLON”
Powerful anthem premieres on the Weird and Wacky Wednesdays Show 9/24 at 7pm
CT
Denver, CO (September 15, 2025) Mixposure Radio has coordinated with Robert
Peterson and The Crusade to premiere their soon-to-be released single, Coming Out Of
Babylon. Broadcasting remotely from West Virginia, the track will be dropped live on
Mixposure.com’s Weird and Wacky Wednesdays Show with JimsAE between 7-8 pm
CT September 24, 2025. The single will be released by DistroKid onto all major
streaming platforms at midnight on September 26, 2025, and is slated to appear on the
group’s forthcoming album, Change Coming On.
“We are proud to feature Robert Peterson and The Crusade as Mixposure.com’s Arist of
the Month for September. Their music is quite good and deserves to be heard. The
entire Mixposure staff thoroughly enjoys their unique brand of music, and we are
eagerly anticipating the upcoming premiere of Coming Out Of Babylon,” commented
Mixposure’s disc jockey Jim Rustemeyer.
Coming Out of Babylon features the layered sounds and tones for which Peterson is
becoming known - powerful arrangements with an emphasis on melody. As the writer
and producer, his signature sounds include a perfect blend of lead and harmony vocals,
catchy guitar hooks, and memorable and meaningful lyrics that are meant to be heard
by the masses. In addition, he strives for originality and authenticity, yet the listener may
find familiarity on this track within an arena-rock ‘wall of sound.’
Formerly a federal biologist, Peterson now balances his passion for music as a guitarist,
writer, and producer. For Babylon, he takes center stage on guitar and vocals but
rounds out this track with the professional talents of Jack Vondrachek on bass, Adam
Hepner on organ and drums, Benji Peterson on harmony lead guitar, and Annie Jo
Brown on outro vocals. “Babylon was the song that began my whole vision for Robert
Peterson and The Crusade back in St. Paul. After we laid down the initial tracks in the
studio, I temporarily put it on a shelf knowing that I would eventually get back to it and
finish it in style. I had an epiphany to add the Hammond B3. This addition provided the
solid rhythmic layer the song had needed to compliment and lift its positive message,”
said Peterson.
No doubt Babylon will continue The Crusade’s appeal to diverse audiences and take its
rightful place in the band’s catalog of musically interesting compositions. It is further
quite likely it will land firmly on a blended mix of hard rock, punk, and pop rock
independent charts and playlists, all on its own merits.

Robert has made a very nice splash with the Mixposure DJs. He makes really fine music for everyone with ears. Song Of The Month comes from Dewey Comhreir!
Robert Peterson and The Crusade is a Musical Artist - an emerging American rock group formed in St. Paul, MN., and now based in Joplin, MO. But it is so much more than that. It is the culmination of a concept and an inspired vision brought to life. An ideal; A musical Trojan horse waiting outside the door to share its positive message with those who have ears to hear!
The Crusade is led by the vision of guitarist Robert Peterson, who produced, arranged, and penned all the band's material. In the style of an old familiar rock and roll fable, Peterson put his Master of Science degree to work by day as a biologist for a federal agency and honed his musical craft in his off-time. He garnered enough original material to warrant a recording session at Tangerine Studios in St. Paul.
What distinguishes Robert Peterson and The Crusade's music is its emphasis on melody - brought to the forefront with the perfect blend of lead and harmony vocals, catchy guitar hooks, and memorable and meaningful lyrics. The resulting, 'sound,' expresses originality and authenticity which resonates with diverse audiences.
Peterson's original Alternative Rock/Indie Rock/Power Pop music can be heard on the singles Of All The World, Change Coming On, and Baa Baa The Black Sheep. These tracks are available for download on the STORE section of the website or can be discovered on a host of music streaming platforms . . . For those with ears to hear, let them hear.
The debut album entitled, Change Coming On , is coming soon. Please Note: Robert's profile is updated now so that people can stream his great music.
