Why Warm Fuzzies are bad for ya.......

<div class="content">Warm fuzzies are addictive and can lead to false self-opinion....... Sometimes we all need an "attaboy" or a "cool tune" ......but I think those of us that want to hone our craft need solid reviews and critiques.....I left my old site because I felt a little restricted there in what you can say to people without...hurting their feelings.... When I get a review,(and I've gotten quite a few here so far which shows an active and involved membership)....most are positive with lots of back pats and very little substance, (not so good) and a few are reviews with good suggestions and actual critiques (a very good thing!) I then make a beeline to that persons page....not just to return the favor, but to see if their material represents that they know what they're talking about and their opinions can actually help me reach my musical goals.....so far I've only ran across a few like that. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are lots of great musos on the site that I have yet to stumble upon, and I do tend to stick with genres that I'm comfortable with, but I have detected a pattern. Now I realize we are all at different skill levels here, and some of us don't have access to all the nifty bells and whistles that we salivate over in those new gear magazines.....heck I don't have a top of the line studio here, but I at least try to stick to a few personal standards and not release material that's just not ready......nor do I give the obligatory pat on the back that so many seem to want...lol...actually I don't review at all if I feel the person will become offended by constructive criticism ....which kinda defeats the whole idea of reviewing IMHO. If we as artists are releasing the products of our craft into the realm of public opinion, then we have to realize an important truism....YOU CAN'T PLEASE EVERYONE ALL THE TIME!!! There's bound to be someone that will think the mix is too bright, your song structure isn't cohesive, your chord structures and progressions are repetitive and lack direction....etc....etc. But these very same opinions are that which allow us to grow and evolve and become masters of our craft. .....whew....got kinda long winded here...lol....guess I needed to vent....anyway, when you drop by my page and give a listen to my tracks......please only leave warm fuzzies that have been earned! Tobin is one of those really dedicated Blues artists who give it their all! Originally from Dallas, Texas, Tobin moved to New York City. He is doing live shows and his music is very successfull - even with Clearchannel! Tobin is stating his influences to be (and that's a HUGE List): All the great Blues & Blues/Rock from the 60s. There were MANY great ones who still to this day entertain the masses! I can tell you that Tobin has put together an excellent Center Stage Presentation for you to enjoy! TRIBE WORLD ENSEMBLE NEW ALBUM RELEASED!

The album, "The Message Stick" incorporates the talents of 25 incredibly gifted musicians and songwriters from across the globe that are true artists in their chosen disciplines! 
 
David Pendragon an independent music producer/sound engineer living in Canberra created this album with the collaboration of musicians playing together over the Internet in their own home studios.
Musicians from as far away as Europe, U.S.A, Canada, U.K, India, Singapore, and various other Australian states showcase their incredible talents on this album.
 
'Tribe World Ensemble' has evolved out of the Canberra Australia band called ‘Tribe’ who are well known for their album ‘The Gathering’ [New World Music] and the single ‘The Bushfire Song’
 
 After the success of 'The Gathering', the idea of a follow up high-quality, well-recorded album of World music, played on real instruments rather than keyboard sounds, seemed a natural progression. 
 
Early in 2006 Pendragon began to explore the Internet as a way to promote Tribe and 'The Gathering'.
Through his investigations Pendragon became inspired with the idea to use the Internet to produce, write and coordinate an entire album of quality music, with musicians who had never met and in many cases, had never even conversed with each other. 
This had never been done before. David realized that this for him was the true meaning of World Music.
Without the Internet as a tool it would never have been possible for them to work together due to the vast distances involved. 
 
  Each of the musicians involved are artists well known in their own communities for their musical expertise on instruments such as: violin, cello, sitar, guitar, lap-slide guitar, drums and percussion, Native American flute and many others. 
Pendragon enlisted all the musicians needed to create this album through Internet forums and independent music sites. He recorded 'back track' parts in his studio and made them available via the Internet to enable the contributing musicians to record their parts and then return them to the Canberra studio. David then mixed these parts into the main mix of the final final songs. 
 
Some song writing and creative development took place during late-night intercontinental or interstate 'voice-over-internet' conversations; humming a tune in Canberra to a sitar riff, or choosing a drum sound over the Skype phone, with the accompanying player somewhere on the other side of the world!
A documentary covering this incredible musical journey is currently being made. Combine all this with the talents of local and interstate musicians and vocalists, and you have a world-class album, pieced together in a very unusual way by the planets very first truly ‘World Music’ band. This is fast becoming the way musicians and artists will work together in the future.

“Message Sticks were used by the Australian Aboriginal people and other tribal cultures to send messages from one place or tribe to another. The messenger was a protected person and allowed free passage across traditional boundaries. We can learn many things from the Native Indigenous People from all areas of our World. 
A common thread that runs throughout all cultures is a caring and unconditional love for the land that clothes and feeds us. 
In this album we are sending out our own heartfelt message to our fellow inhabitants of this incredible place we all call home, Planet Earth. Each song expresses a feeling about some aspect of human co-existence and relationship, with ourselves, with our Planet and with each other. Almost there!!!!

I've been away for some time, both from the sites as well as playing.  I picked up my acoustic for the first time about six weeks ago, and I've got that itch again.
I'm currently finishing some work in the basement, and hope to set up the studio gear before Thanksgiving...with that done, I'll start pumping out some new tunes.  In the meantime, I'll listen to some of the incredibly talented artists on this site, and write a few reviews.
