Biography

Born into the pop-culture filled 1990’s and bred in Southern California, Paul Muro and Mel Torres were childhood friends since the beginning of their educations at Walt Disney Elementary. Once Muro received his first guitar and Mel his first drum set, their friendship grew richer with a common passion for music. They devoted copious amounts of time towards music throughout their childhood and later into their adolescent lives at the home of Torres, simply playing music and doing what they loved.

While Muro and Torres were enjoying regular guitar and drumming sessions, Andrés Garcia received his guitar and continued his musical interests, totally unaware of Torres and Muro. Once these three boys reached adolescence, with Torres and Garcia meeting at Oxford Academy and Muro attending Brookhurst Junior High, they formed a musical project that nurtured a thirst to form a studio band. Muro, Torres, and Garcia searched for a female vocalist to complete their visions, but Dan Kim, Tim Pei, Ashley Nguyen did not match their musical tastes. However, vocalist Annes Kim and bassist Brian St. Halire proved sufficient.

With a desire for a fresh start, Muro, Torres, and Garcia found bassist Alan Hernandez from Western High School. Hernandez provided emotional strength for all band mates. The formula was completed when Valerie Sabatino of Oxford Academy joined the four men.

After numerous performances at and countless hours in the studio, a key performance at Chain Reaction in May 2009 truly united the band as a second family of extremely close companions. Throughout all of their personal strife and proud accomplishments, it whittled down to that single spring night of performance. A throbbing crowd of music-hungry teenagers filled the floors, not only listening to Emerging From Below’s musical messages, but they were the only band that night with a circle mosh pit.

This performance at a local venue of Orange County was not enough for their hopes of larger scales of success. Mel Torres inspired high hopes for Valerie, Paul, Alan, and Andrés; Torres teamed up with a booking assistant, Minh Tran, to search for other sources of expanding their influence in Southern California to make the summer of 2009 the band’s largest turning point yet.

The band honed their musical tastes and talents down to a fine sharp blade that could only be described as, and in their own purpose, “Emerging From Below: A day when the dark horse emerges from the depths of the bottomless ocean and the essence of every human being rises towards the rays of clarification will be the day when the true metamorphosis will begin.”

(EPIC STYLE :D)
At the turn of the century three souls coexisted in this world with little intent of looking within themselves to discover attributes of fine musicality and artistry. Paul Muro and Mel Torres were friends since early ages at Walt Disney Elementary. When Paul received his first guitar and Mel his first drum set, the planets seemed to have aligned. Practicing leisurely at the aspiring drummer’s house, both of these children had no idea of the events to come.

On the other side of universe, also known as East Anaheim, Andrés Garcia received his first guitar. He too was unconscious to the fact that he was to join the two young men in a timeless and undefined quest. After numerous attempts of playing his favorite music, he gave up on the instrument with little to no hope on mastering its secrets. Like a stray bullet from a drive by shooting, he did not suspect that his second, clearly superior guitar would fall into his hands. As a new hope this symbol of liberty and freedom lifted his spirits in order to put him on his way. On his way to his own journey through Oxford Academy to find someone to epically jam with. Little to their knowing, Mel Torres attended to the very same school while Paul Muro was violently stripped from the side of Mel because of his enrollment to Brookhurst Junior High.

As these souls came across their surprising, initial encounter the heavens, they did open and light shined onto the future of these gentlemen. As a plan only to become a prominent studio band, because of Mel’s duty to his prior established musical group, the side project called AMP did not foreshadow any of the proceedings to occur. After devising a small side project in between the group and writing a compilation of about two or three songs, they decided to look for members to complete the much anticipated gang of hooligans. Through much trial and error the band tried out several singers. Dan Kim, Tim Pei, Ashley Nguyen and many others but all were either not to their liking or did not have enough time to compromise for this ambitious commitment.

After these many failing tries, the band finally decided to conform to schoolmate Annes Kim. Set aside from the rest of the singers, she posed as a good asset to this prodigal band. Sometime thereafter bassist virtuoso Brian St Halire joined up as well. Unfortunately for these new found blood brothers and lonesome sister, the quintet could no longer grant the ultra-talented bassist with a consistent feeling of content. He left the band due to these conflicting influences in musical style and not because of personal relationships with the band members themselves. Fortunately, Brian got a chance to play the La Palma battle of the bands and several other shows in order to push the group well on its way.

In the aftermath of this devastating loss, came a miracle of sorts which seemed to descend like a well-built, angelic man from the clouds above, also known as Western High School. Like the Alpha and Omega himself, Alan Hernandez saved the band from much needed stability and strength both physically and emotionally. This awakening served as a further character Foil to Annes and soon everyone realized the poisonous clutch of her inhumane and illogical personality. Luckily, to the surprise of the young men of the group, she decided to give up her prominent future with the band and fully betray them once and for all.

With hopes of rebirth, the band stood together and looked forward onto the brightening horizon. To illuminate and enlighten the eyes of these individuals, the Goddess of the sun, Valerie Sabatino from Oxford Academy, proved to be the final piece. After quite a few performances at Chain Reaction and other like venues and much time in the studio, working on their musical scores, the band wanted nothing but progress for the future. With all into place, this unique band of gypsies elegantly collaborated to form the final creation which is known in common terms as…

Emerging From Below
A day when the dark horse emerges from the depths of the bottomless ocean and the essence of every human being rises towards the rays of clarification will be the day when the true metamorphosis will begin. Aid us in foretelling this prophecy…
