Geeztown, pronounced with a hard G sound as in go, is an alt pop band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The sound can be described as a mix of Neon Trees, Copeland, The Flaming Lips, and Zedd. Geeztown is also heavily influenced by Michael Jackson, Thrice, and The Smashing Pumpkins. Using acoustic instruments alongside modern synth sounds in an attempt to reinvent a modern pop sound with a unique sonic character.
Geeztown is a group of musicians, producers, and songwriters lead by Aaron Giese. Right now Aaron is the only permanent member, but is seeking other collaborators hoping to find a few key people to be core members. Some collaborations so far have included Jesse Weber from The Phoenix Philosophy, and Josh DeHaven formerly of Void In Reality.
Geeztown, still in it’s infancy, has been consistently releasing cover videos on youtube and writing songs for 2 upcoming releases. The first will be a 3 song mix tape. Then after using the mix tape to start a following and gain some momentum, a full length album will be released.
Aaron Giese has been a recording engineer and producer working out of a medium sized project studio since 2008. Some projects have included The Phoenix Philosophy, Josh Clutter, and Handsome Midnight just to name a few. Aaron is a voting member of The Recording Academy and has had the opportunity to vote on and attend the Grammys.
As a songwriter, Aaron has had the opportunity to write the theme song for a TV show. Songs he has written in the past have been featured on podcasts and played on the radio. Aaron has also cowritten songs with several other artists including 2 songs with Josh Clutter.
