hard disk recorders, any one use them?
G'day,

Well, I've just had enough of trying to get my guitar tracks pro 3 going with my new laptop.. so I'm kind of thinking about a hard disk recorder, going to have a look at a couple this week, so to see what I think of them.. any one here have much experiance with them?
Well...dude! this is a touchy subject and there are many ways of doing things. I do use a hard disk recorder a Yamaha AW4416 and it's wicked! The built in pre are extremly good which is key to recording! I have the yamaha hooked up to a PC for main recording...I use the AW4416 as my interface going through a RME high end audio card that is fiber optics allowing me with 16in/16out...even though my Yamaha is a 24 track hard disk recorder.
bottom line...whatever you go for or use...make sure the device are equiped with good pre's...research before you buy- spend the money on awesome pre's...the rest will look after it's self!
That's my two cents worth...don't make mistake like other I know and buy crap pre amps...junk in...is junk out!
Cheers,
Gary
