On the run

When I was a little

boy my mama told me

“Son, you have to be as good as gold”
But my rockin’ music

made me inattentive

for the things my teachers told

Hurry up!

Life won’t wait, you’ll be too late

If you don’t learn to work

you will always be on the run

Some years later when I

had a girlfriend and she

told me “go and quit the band”

Minutes later with the

boys in band rehearsal

I enjoyed to be free again

Hurry up!

I do the things I have to do!

now I’m free again 

but I feel like a man on the run

Hurry up!

Don’t you be too late

If you don’t make a stand

you will always be on the run

I did the things I had to do

I did do ev’rything I could

no matter if it’s wrong or good

Ev’ry day in my life

I do work like a dog

But it ain’t enough!

One day I will be a

old man lying in my

bed and waiting for my death

When I’m dead and buried

there will be no hurry

and I’ll have all the time I wanted to have all my life!

Hurry up! 

And I’ll say “No, no, no - 

there’s no chance to be too late

Now I can’t do nothing

and I’ll be no more on the run”
