Biography

Serendipity. Fortune. Destiny. They’re foreign words to most of us, lost in life during the search for our own ultimate fate. Few are born with any knowledge of their purpose in the world, but if they are, it’s often recognized early on. Some realize it through sports, others through public service and a small number do so through music, our most universal platform to connect.

Nycole Valentina, a MySpace success story and passionate singer/songwriter, falls into the latter category. Before she could tie her shoelaces, she was born a singer. She’s convinced she had her breakthrough moment at four years of age. Laughing, she retells the tale: “I went to Disney World with my parents, and the first thing I did was walk right up to Mickey Mouse to sing. I belted out: ‘It’s my party, and I’ll cry if I want to!’ From that moment on, I always carried with me this feeling that I was supposed to be singing. And it hasn’t stopped since.”

Born in Mississippi, Nycole is bound to a tradition of soulful, emotional music, and all of her life experiences are evident in her new album, “The Revenge of Nycole Valentina.” At just 19-years-old, her “Revenge” is a dynamic blend of pop, RnB, soul and club music that is aimed, precisely, in many directions. And while the overall theme might be about a broken heart, her angst isn’t fueled by just the emotional rage from a break-up; it’s tied into her experiences with people in the industry, her personal life and the world in general. She’s honed the sound on this record through years of competitions, relationships and a steadfast belief that she’s destined to succeed and make “feel-good, uplifting music that the masses will love.”

Nycole got her first taste of the recording industry at 12-years-old, cutting demos for Body Head Entertainment, a music label owned by former boxing champion, Roy Jones, Jr. Having lived in Florida for a few years, a family friend heard Nycole sing and put her in touch with the label. The experience was a dream come true, but even at such a young age, Nycole knew she needed to be creative to fully enjoy a singing career. Eventually, she hooked up with Grammy-winning producers Shannon Sanders and Drew Ramsey (India.Arie, Heather Headley), and drove to Nashville, TN every few weeks to record. “I finally became part of the creative process,” she says, “and the music became so much more personal and real. It was incredible.”

Based today in Atlanta, GA, Nycole has finally hit her stride as an artist, with over 26 million hits on her MySpace (all through independent means). She appeared on MTV’s TRL during its final season, and has had the opportunity to perform all over America at various high-profile events. The new album showcases Nycole’s “total package” abilities and her desire to create fun, contemporary, “irresistible” pop. As the credited lead writer on almost every song, Nycole is looking to create a truly unique lane for herself by giving the fan “a direct insight into her emotions on every song.” And having recently inked a joint venture production deal with Grammy-nominated producer Armando Colon’s Launchcode Entertainment (Babyface, Lil Kim) and label deal with Charlotte, NC-based 1st N 10 Entertainment under the guidance of industry veteran Terrence Gittens (N’Sync, The Backstreet Boys), Nycole is now set to release a new single called “Flatline” – produced by Colon – and grow her fanbase:

“I want to make great music, better music, every day,” she says, “and push myself to the breaking point. I want to get comfortable there, and then push it all over again. My desire to make music feels impossible to stop; this is what I was born to do, and I am too close to finally making it happen to even consider slowing down. This is my passion and my revenge!”
