As a composer, a singer, and a pianist, Rebecca's music is very much her own. Raised in Muswell Hill, London, she has been writing and performing since the age of seven. Classically trained in piano, but preferring to work out the latest hits she heard on the radio by ear, Rebecca was told off by her parents constantly for not practicing. And yet, music has come so naturally to her, that becoming an accomplished pianist seemed destined to happen.
She has always loved listening to all genres of music, from rock to country, and as a teenager could be found at the piano most days writing her own melodies and words in the style of Carole King and The Carpenters.
Her songwriting and performing has continued throughout the years. Rebecca has written for other artists and performed with many respected musicians. She has worked as a session musician and played keyboards for many bands.
Rebecca recently wrote, sang and played songs for an album produced with with Wendell Richardson of Osibisa fame and another talented writer and guitarist, Bob Thomson, entitled 'Global Soundbite' available on iTunes.
Her songs are touching and heartfelt, and she writes from a personal perspective about love, hope, loss, but also songs with a strong societal message.
Rebecca has been performing her own compositions in theatres and clubs for the last few years with a superb band of seasoned musicians and has received much critical acclaim.
Her new release, Spirit, was written about a person very close to her heart. She won't reveal much more than this about it, but it's clearly about someone who she felt very attached to but can't be with. The closer you listen, the more you'll understand.
