Sheliyah is a member of the band Sheli & Abi. Sheli & Abi are two atypical artists, tireless researchers, irreverent sound fixers, constantly swimming against the current. Their songs are about family meals that go wrong, their obsession for household tasks, spanking or their trips to India. From gospel to Maloya, from jazz to French chanson, soul to flamenco, reggae to funk, electro rhythms to Guyana, nothing can resist the Sheli & Abi merger : they patiently build delicate sound objects with unique accents, musical delicacies which exhale new flavors with each listen, small pieces of art whose score can be read a thousand times and constantly reveal new harmonies.Sheli passionately loves Ella Fitzgerald, Thelonious Monk, Eva Cassidy. Abi worships Stevie Wonder, R.E.M., Robin Thicke. In their Parisian appartment, cluttered with books, records and musical instruments, they started their home studio, recorded their voices in a clothes closet converted into a cabin, invited the most talented musicians in their living room, mixed in pajamas, their cats on their lap. Braving the complaints of neighbors and computer crashes, they composed and produced this album that tells seven years of love, sharing, stages, travels and unwavering friendship.
