(Another) Slow Day
1.
I watch the rain creating a dance
I feel myself being entranced
I follow each track down the window pane
Getting to the bottom and starting again
-
No traffic on the road few people around
The splatter of rain a monotonous sound
I pick up a book but the words blur away
Time ticks turgid it’s another slow down
-
My reverie is broken as the microwave pings
Pulling me back to all the mundane things
I tidy up the kitchen then sit back down
Make a cup of tea while the day drags around
4.
I should be doing more but I can’t be arsed
A malaise has set in as the slow day passes
Back at the window the rain still plays
Caught up in the grips of another slow day
Mid
Time ticks slow – it keeps ticking, it keeps ticking, it keeps ticking, the clock keeps ticking
Got nowhere to go – it keeps ticking, it keeps ticking, it keeps ticking, the clock keeps ticking
Scotty beam me up please - it keeps ticking, it keeps ticking, it keeps ticking, the clock keeps ticking
‘Cos I’m down on my knees - it keeps ticking, it keeps ticking, it keeps ticking, the clock keeps ticking
-
The minutes feel like hours and the hours are days
I rearrange my furniture in a hundred ways
I hate being bored it’s a loveless thing
It’s like a big old hole that constantly sinks
6.
I just can’t wait for this day to be done
A headache from hell and my emotions are numb
The rain keeps falling from the clouds so grey
I need to escape from just another day
Thanks for the look in Rob, much appreciated
Man!! I loved those keys coming in there....what a great sound. Very cool approach to jazz. Vocals are cool and really set a spooky jazzy atmosphere. Very cool song and musical expression.
Thank you both for taking time to have a listen in the song, very much appreciated
