(Another) Slow Day

I watch the rain creating a dance

I feel myself being entranced

I follow each track down the window pane

Getting to the bottom and starting again

No traffic on the road few people around

The splatter of rain a monotonous sound

I pick up a book but the words blur away

Time ticks turgid it’s another slow down

My reverie is broken as the microwave pings

Pulling me back to all the mundane things

I tidy up the kitchen then sit back down

Make a cup of tea while the day drags around

I should be doing more but I can’t be arsed

A malaise has set in as the slow day passes

Back at the window the rain still plays

Caught up in the grips of another slow day

The minutes feel like hours and the hours are days

I rearrange my furniture in a hundred ways

I hate being bored it’s a loveless thing

It’s like a big old hole that constantly sinks

I just can’t wait for this day to be done

A headache from hell and my emotions are numb

The rain keeps falling from the clouds so grey

I need to escape from just another day

Ohhh those very slooooooow days.
