When I was a kid I used to act like one,

but now I'm not and it ain't much fun.

I drink beer instead of chewing gum,

and they broke up that old gang of mine long ago.

 

I sit on my couch and watch a DVR.

I think about my friends.

I wonder how they are.

Some moved close, and others moved far...away.

I think about my friends just a little everyday.

 

I look in a mirror, mmm, at a guy who was.

I don't know who he is anymore,

and I don't know what he does.

 

I dont know what he does!

Time goes slow and time goes fast.

The precious moments never last.

One day you realize that things have changed and our life is reflected back as to when you were a kid. This song is about that sentiment from a perspective of sitting on my couch thinking about that.

As St.Paul said in one if his epistles : "When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things." For you Bible buffs, 1 Corinthians 13:11. This song is a modern twist in the same idea.
