Biography
Tim grew up in a musical family on a farm in Northern Ontario. His Mother and Father along with three brothers and five sisters all played and sang. After many years with the family weekend band Tim formed his own band and went on his own. Many years of performing has made Tim an outstanding artist. His writing and arrangemnet skills show through on his recently recorded original collection. His style has been inspired by a variety of performers such as Roy Clark, Earl Scuggs, Ronnie Milsap, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Burton Cummings, and the list goes on. When asked if he has a favorite kind of music Tim will answer," Yea, Music that comes from the heart and stirs the soul". Tim believes that for every song that is written there is at least one other person that will enjoy it so that makes it worth doing. Tim plans to be recording his original tunes for many years and hopes that they will bring a smile to someones face or an extra beat to someones heart.
Why this name?
The name "The Wailer" originally started as "The Whitefish Wailer" I have had several bands over a period of years but in 1992 I started doing a single in my hometown area and use to perform quite a bit in the Whitefish Lake (Northern Ontario) area thus becoming The Whitefish Wailer. I shortened the name for poster purposes.
Do you play live?
Musically I spend most of my free time off stage. I enjoy performing live but spend most of my time writing and recording or doing pre-production work for others. I still do take bookings for large venues and special events.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet music scene came along just in time! With gas prices off the wall it is nearly impossible to venture across a continent in support of your own music out of personal funds. Although I sure do miss the personal contact with the fans. There is something to be said about a hand shake and a smile and watching people of all ages dancing and enjoying my tunes. Nothing will ever take the place of a quality live performance! So I strive to make as many contacts as I can via internet with plans to travel to those places that show the most support.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It would be an adventure to be signed with a major label, although I truly believe that one can make anything happen if one so desires.
Band History:
Performing on stage since age 8, Family band till age 17, Rythme guitarist and 5-string banjo picker for Randy and the Rockets for 4 years, Formed my own band Rural Route Express for a year, then formed The Sweetwater Band and that went on for 12 years with many great members to come and go. The most recent band that I brought together was The Cookhouse Band for a two year stint, One of the most memorable gigs in 2004 was opening for Doug and The Slugs, unfortunately we lost Doug in that same year to Pickers'Heaven, sadly missed!
Favorite spot?
My favorite spot and city to be in is in my hometown at Christmas with all of my family.
