Well I am a happy person today, as this is the first of hopefully many to put up on Mix. It is great to listen to my words brought to life, and listen to the musicians idea of how this should be done. I have many works in progress, you know who you are??!!! So I am waiting to fill these other spaces. Melsi xx
Yep, this song was my contribution to the Same Song Title Madness thing we did here back in February. It wasn't bad, but admittedly there were some issues in places where the bass guitar and drums weren't together as tightly as they should have been. I had thrown it together quickly to meet the submission deadline, and couldn't muck with re-recording some of the bits over. It was "close enough".

Well, I had some time this weekend (still in Texas on work detail) and pulled out my Boss recorder and mixing/mastering machine, and discovered I still had the song and all its track in it.

I deleted the original bass and drum tracks, but left intact the original lead and rhythm guitar tracks and vocals.

I pulled out my bass and re-recorded a whole new bass guitar track, playing to the song and to a drum loop set to the basic time of the song. Next, I deleted turned of the drum loop and built a new drum track from the ground up, playing "live" in "real time" to the song. It is not a programmed drum track.

Finally, I remixed the whole thing from scratch, kicking up the voacl a bit more, adding more thump to the bass guitar. It might not be perfect, but it's as close to perfect as I can get. It is the blues after all. It shouldn't be perfect, right? lol

Anyway, give the remixed, partially re-recorded song a spin and let me know what you think.

Paul

I`m so thankful to all of you who were kind enough to listen to and review Narnias music. I`m sure that even if I had`nt put up a blog to promote them and you`d listened without the pointer, that you`d all have said exactly the same as you`ve said in your reviews..I know a few of you have "issues" with rapster and to be able to put that aside for his young, musician daughters shows your true integrity... Thankyou all so very much, you are all stars here..

Hi people.

I'm not the world's most prolific blogger, but here's just a word or two to let those of you who are interested know that my album "Words And Music" will shortly be available as a download from CD Baby. I sent them the hard copy a few days ago and am waiting to hear from them. I could take a few weeks to sort it all out and, I must admit, I'm a little excited about it.

In case you were wondering, the child in the picture is me, aged about three years. Someone said I should have my picture on the cover, so here it is.

Cheers, Phil

This features the bass and guitar of Kev Durham.

One helluva musician in his own right - it was a pleasure and honour to work with him on this track.

Waiting Too Cry continues in my latest acoustic based style as with the rest of the Bridges songs. This song sets out to explore that feeling of lostness (is that a real word and does anyone care if it is or not) .

I can't thank Kev enough for his work on this little tune.

For the purists out there : the structure of this track is deliberatly simplistic : you see lives complicated enough without all the changes.

Seems to we are just falling........................

Sly

I honestly can't get enough of this website, even the blogs give me kicks. So, now that Gears Within is done, what do I do now? Take a break? Will the Sun fail me? No. So I'm on my way to the beginning of my very next album. I won't upload tracks right away, as I just dropped a wheelbarrow of tracks into my playlist here. But, I will let you in on some information regarding the album.

The ocean has always held a strange place in my heart. My very darkest fear is being dropped into the middle of the Pacific Ocean at night with calm seas. Imagining the auditory silence and visual nothingness is nothing short of terrifying to me. I realized in Gears Within that so much of my music is dark and sinister (thanks Margot). With that, I decided to explore that emotion 150%. Imagining with every song that I'm out on those black seas, not knowing anything, but feeling everything. The title of the album is a reflection on how people will view it. It's going to be called Sur La Mer Noire, which means "On The Black Sea" in French. I chose this title because upon seeing the title, some people won't understand it. Upon listening however, it comes to pass that the description doesn't matter so much as the very experience of being in those waters. I'm not sure how I'm going to work that kind of panic into the songs, but it should be really unsettling. Wish me luck!
