N3XUS RADIO TONIGHT FROM 8PM GMT

Tonight on N3XUS we will be celebrating the birth of even more new features around the site.
Firstly on our "Now Playing" page: <a href="http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/requests/">http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/requests/</a> we have introduced a little feature at the top that gives some more information about the artist, if we have it some album art will display, and also if we have been supplied links to where people can buy the album this will display as well.
Also links to omd's websites etc will be displayed... pretty fantastic stuff even if i do say so myself.
ON TOP of all that there is something even more SPECIAL! What can be more special than that I hear you ask? Well... I have introduced a simple RATING system so that people can rate the tune that is playing, or that they request (<a href="http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/requests/playlist.php?limit=100">http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/requests/playlist.php?limit=100</a&gt out of 5!

We have also just started SCROBBLING To LASTFM so you can see if you have been played and how many times each song you have played has played.. however this has only just been set up and i had a problem where it scrobbled the same track multiple times for some reason.. but once all the DJ's have this simple little feature set up the artists played should even out a bit. Since setting this up we have already played 746 different artists!!!!

 This event is part of the Downunda Thunda Radio 1st Anniversary Concert Series with other events being planned for the other capital cities in Australia over a six (6) month period, culminating with the inaugural Gascoyne Delta Blues and Roots Festival to be held in Carnarvon WA in mid year 2009

The Downunda Thunda Radio '2008 Independent Music Showcase' is shaping up to be an important part of the DTR greater plan, and allows for independent music artists to obtain further exposure for their art and craft; Performers of all original material are encouraged to apply for the limited appearance slots available;
The Downunda Thunda Radio '2008 Independent Music Showcase' is scheduled to happen over the weekend of November 1st & 2nd 2008 and will be coinciding with the 1st Birthday - Anniversary broadcast of Downunda Thunda Radio which began broadcasting on the 1st November 2007
Downunda Thunda Radio are now calling for expressions of interest from artists, bands or musical acts wanting to appear and showcase their material as part of the Downunda Thunda Radio '2008 Indie Music Showcase'
As an added incentive, invitations will be sent out to music industry luminaries and managers to come and attend the shows and witness first hand the wealth of untapped talent available
Funds raised from the event will be channeled into other events and promotions including the Downunda Thunda Radio 'Independent Music Showcase CD' to be released soon after the event Artists appearing on the showcase will be the acts presented on the cd release and will also receive 10 copies per act for your own promotional purposes
The Downunda Thunda Radio 'Independent Music Showcase CD' package is being distributed free of charge to college, community and indie radio in Australia, the USA and United Kingdom, in all, over 1200 musical outlets lined up to showcase your music to the world

Doing it right

Hello all,

Our friend Terra Naomi performed her song, Say It's Possible, at the Live Earth London concert at Wembley Stadium in the video below.

I sent her a message the very next day saying how I saw her on TV showing us all how to do the right thing at that particular concert. And I also mentioned how proud I was of her to show up at the concert and only use an acoustic guitar in her performance.

Terra was kind enough to respond to my message personally in saying thanks for the support etc...

Now friends, please don't get me wrong here...I saw the Live Earth Concert on TV, and I had hoped that perhaps all the bands and artists would have elected to use the minimalistic approach to their performances that day...and some did, others...not so...but know this, I appreciate all music in many forms of presentation, I just wish that there could have been a mandate to use as little electricity as possible in these concerts.....I suppose next time the organizers will put this out as a possible mandate to performers to use the least amount of non renewable resources in their future performances...as Terra sings...Say It's Possible

Enough of my blabbing...PLEASE enjoy Terra Naomi and her performance of Say It's Possible from the Live Earth London concert at Wembley Stadium.

STL...The City of Hate & No Unity In The Record Industry

St. Louis is a city where there are so many talented artists, so much passion for making music, my home town and an opportunity to be a vital city to the record industry; but it’s all drowned out by so much HATE & NO UNITY!  The local entertainment industry in St. Louis, from my perspective, is somewhat dead.  This close to death scenario is caused by the words I highlighted above, HATE and the inability to UNITE!  It has also been brought on by greed and bad business decision on the part of certain individuals, who had the opportunity to open up the flood gate for the city of St. Louis within the music industry.
 
What I mean by “flood gate”?  I mean creating outlets within St. Louis, which allow artist to grow and prosper to the masses outside of St. Louis.  One saying that kills me that I hear a lot in the city is “YOU GOTTA GET OUT OF ST. LOUIS TO GET ON”!  At this point, it may have turned that way, but it shouldn’t be that way. Although I do agree that once you get your city behind you and take care of home, you should hit the world and make it happen everywhere.  That, “you got to get out of the Lou to get on”, is Bogus.  Did Luda have to leave the ATL to get on?  Did Memphis Bleek have to leave New York to get on, plus a bunch more I can name?  No, they where put on in their city and then hit the world.  The people that had the ability to create opportunity’s for them right there in their city, did that.  That’s how DTP and the ATL are surviving.  That’s how Roc-A-Fella was able to make the run that they did.  They got put on in their city and their city rode with them to the masses when it was time.  St. Louis, that’s what we need, bottom line!    
 
As an artist and CEO, I have had the opportunity to see both sides of the game, when it comes to dealing with artist, and the tastemakers here in the Lou.  I’ve reached out to artist to do songs or even offer them my service of a show, just to try and create a unity bond in the city.  This may not sound like much of what I’m doing, but I think that it’s big.  Reason being, the same services that I’m reaching out to them to offer for free, I should be charging.  Reason being, I’m a signed artist.  I have my own legit label, which will soon sign a major distribution deal as well as a possible major label deal, if I decide to go that way.  I may just stay independent, because I have the distribution on my side, but if the major can match my independent return numbers and offer me something of value, not necessarily monetary, then I may join forces with a major.  That’s why!  I’m not telling you about my situation, hoping that it happen, this is what is on the table for me right now!  So basically what I’m saying is, I could be on of the ones who posses hate and no unity, and not reach out to anyone.  I do it, hoping that others will get the idea to reach out and try to work with each other, no matter what success level you’re on, or think you’re on.  Hopefully by them seeing an artist of my magnitude coming from the local scene, having these opportunities on the table, but still have the realness to reach out to others to try and create a different mood and feeling in the local scene, will encourage them to follow. Same thing goes for the tastemakers.  Get off this me, me, me trip!    
 
I guess you can say that I’m one of the few who will step up to the plate to try and help my city prosper in the entertainment industry.  I’m on a mission to create outlets and a vital source that can push out hot talent straight from the STL, to the world.  All local industry tastemakers, dj’s, personalities, media, promoters, etc., you are a vital part to the game, and the success of our city.  Let’s work together to make a change for our city, that will benefit the city as a whole, while creating outlets for artist to be successful out of our city to the world. You can be the start!  But it’s going to take a different mind set!
 
Artist, lets grind harder and smarter, and UNITE for the cause of uplifting our city.  Everybody gotta play their part for the good of the whole.  One thing I have learned dealing with record executives, is that they don’t like spending money on items (cities), that don’t posses UNITY.  You can have your crew and fam, that’s all good, but just don’t make the next crew your target or enemy.  Let your crew be a reason why St. Louis is popping on the map.  Make them your allies in getting this industry money.  Make St. Louis the city where you come to see every label and artist getting money.  But  Let me keep it real, like I always do, everybody isn’t gone prosper in the game, because that’s just reality, but the ones that are built for this and posses the necessary skills to be successful, go for it!

CSP - July 26, 2008 Mix Radio Center Stage Presentation with Aimless Sessions

I dare say that my audience is becoming a bit spoiled in expecting nothing but the best in Indie Artist's music when it comes to "Saturday Night Rocks" and the "Mix Radio Center Stage Presentation", correct? I know that some of our Mixposure members have placed their guesses as to who the next CSP will be in the <a href="http://www.mixposure.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=12073">General Chat - Mix Center Stage Presentation</a> thread within the <a href="http://www.mixposure.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=104">Mix Radio DJ's Corner Forum </a>. Gina (WildHoneyPie) had the Genre right in one of her guesses and Blake from TCP actually had the artist right (the first choice of his two guesses). It's just a fun little thing we do between shows! Without further delay, "Interactive Radio" on Mix Radio is proud to present the next Artist up for the "Mix Radio Center Stage Presentation" during my Saturday Night Rocks show on July 26, 2008: none other than the project (I suppose you can call it that) known as <a href="http://www.mixposure.com/aimless_sessions/">Aimless Sessions</a>. Jazz at it's finest!!! If Aimless Sessions has a "Band Leader", it would be whom you know as White Chameleon. Many in the Indie Music Scene also know him as Markku. I have been familiar with Markku's music for a few years now and am excited that we get to know him and those who work with him on the great tunes Aimless Sessions produces just a little bit better. This will be another great CSP - I can guarantee it!
