Listen to more of TCP's music HERE.

Just a little factoid for those of you who are not familiar with Internet Radio when it comes to Independent Artists:

There are a huge number of "Indie Stations" on the Internet. I have done some extensive research over the past 4 years and I can tell you that most of those stations will have about 15 listeners MAX during one of their primetime shows. Well, I am happy to report that we hit a whopping 32 Listeners on this last show here on Mix Radio! This might not seem big to you as you are reading this, but it is!!! Also, it should tell you that there is work to be done! We need many more listeners to realize how great Independent Artists really are!!! YOU can help by spreading the word! Sunday Mix 'n' Mash

By Wizard Sleeve, 2008-07-19

Tonight, Live from 8PM GMT (3PM EST) we have an old friend visiting us, who you may remember from some of the old shows, but should definitly know from round the forums of late.. Jam.. or James, and he's determined to get me drunk. We might also have a guest apearance from my dad who is coming round for lunch today... so its going to be a full house...

We have had loads of new sign ups since posting about SOTY2008 over the web, however we haven't had many more submissions and nominations.

To enter the competition and recieve your chance of winning a prize just EMAIL your track to competitions@nexusradio.co.uk and please include your ARTIST NAME: SONG TITLE: and SONG GENRE: and obviously THE ACTUAL SONG/TUNE

You can listen to the tracks when we're offline (if you use internet explorer) by clicking this link: http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/forum/soty2008.php - there is a player down the bottom with th tracks loaded into it.

You can then nominate any of those submissions in the SOTY thread on nexus radio by clicking here: http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=1697

If you missed my post yesturday here is a list of the predicted prizes

#1 overall gets a custom made t-shirt, a selection of CD's donated by some of the artists that post on N3XUS, A mug and a few little other bits and bobs.. Plus a posibilty of some really big prizes but we are still in negotiations for that

#2 and # 3 overall get a mug and bumper sticker

In the individual Genre sections...

#1 will recieve a hat and mug
#2 and #3 recieve a bumper sticker.

examples of the clothes are on http://www.cafepress.com/nexusradio - last years winner recieved this t-shirt: http://www.cafepress.com/NexusRadio.163635072 (different image on both sides) - this year we hope to make an even better one.

Also depending on the contests popularity we are planning on making a CD of the top 15 or so tracks of the year (with the artists permission of course) that will be used for artist promo, possibley prizes to the top 3 overall, future prizes in other competitions. We wont ever sell this CD unless all artists who allowed us to put their tracks on there are okay with it. And the money will only go into future competitions cos right now it all comes out of my own pocket...

Also if you win a couple of prizes... say you win a bumper sticker and a mug.. but you really want the hat.. you can exchange as long as the prizes you have are of the same value or more.

The more popular this contest gets the better the prizes will become... also we are hoping people will donate some prizes for the competition to.

To donate a prize please contat: wizardsleeve@nexusradio.co.uk

Remember if you want to have a chance at winning a prize all you have to do is submit a song to competitions@nexusradio.co.uk and include your artist name, song title, and genre of music.
You can submit as many of your own tracks as you like, and if you are submitting some one elses track please include their email addy so i can contact them.. or alternativly let them know they are in the competition for me :)

We played all the tracks last week on my show so I will only play new entries this week so as not to be repetative, and we will be back to our normal programming of Trance, Metal, DnB, Funk, Comedy, Random Bullshit Debates, and whatever else we pull out our arses.. not to mention a selection of over 5000 tracks to request from unsigned and signed artits!

Live from 8PM GMT (3PM EST)

I was with the original MIX nearly since it started. One of the main reasons I "jumped on with both feet" is because the atmosphere being promoted there was one of friendliness in the review community. "Management" often got involved when someone was posting reviews that were not "constructive" or "helpful".

Some recent reviews on the re-born MIXPOSURE highlight the fact that some folks (whether it be jealousy or just a "spiteful" nature) don't understand what "helpful" means. What it does NOT mean is to say things like "all your stuff is crappy". Fortunately, the ADMINS in this new iteration have put in place some tools (under PROFILE) for the individual musician to remove such reviews. That is NICE to KNOW (because I didn't until I asked, & then was given very prompt and accurate instruction on how to remove truly offensive reviews or comments).

I'm not an advocate of removing all negative criticism, only the stuff that is clearly intended to hurt or "maim the spirit". So I believe this tool should be used with caution... BUT, I do believe it should be used. I think it's very important to this great revived community to keep the "spirit of MIXPOSURE" alive and well, and one of the best ways to do that is to avoid "flaming" some idiot whose whole intention was/is to "push your buttons"... that's what they want - for YOU to descend to their level of hatefulness anyway.

& in that spirit, this blog is offered up. I've always been about HELPING the INDIE musician... for those who don't understand that I have but one thing to say. "May you rest in piece(s)"!!!

HIJACKED EMAIL

By Test48, 2008-07-18

Peter Mercer just sent me an email asking if something he received from me with the subject line "Dear Friend", was really sent from me. In looking at his forwarded message, I noticed that virtually everone in my email address book for that account, was apparently sent the same message. In fact, I received one at one of my secondary email addresses (which is listed in my primary email account's address book), as well!

I have just sent everyone who apparently received the bogus email the following message, and I am posting my note here as a heads up. I'm not quite sure what to do, short of starting over with a new email address, provider, etc. Any suggestion anyone here might have would be greatly appreciuated. I have never had this happen in the six years or so I've used my main email address.

Anyway, here is what I have sent out in response (some of you folks, like FM, and others I have email contact with should have received this email from me):

All, or most of you, probably received a strange email with a "Dear Friend" subject line. I received one, also, sent to one of seconday yahoo addresses, supposedly sent from my main yahoo address (this one). Those of you who know me, know I would not use such a vague subject line, or send the kind of ad that comprised the message.

Clearly, someone has managed to hack my email address. I've used this address for more than six years, but clearly will have to change it, I guess. I'm not an expert on this kind of thing, but any suggestions from anyone here who might be more knowledgeable would be great. If there's something I can do instead of closing or changing email accounts/address, please let me know.

Meanwhile, if you receive anythging remotely suspicious, let me know. I do not operate any such business, and would not be approaching you to buy or invest and so on.

It amazes me how people can expend so much time and energy to crap like this, instead of something meaningful.

Paul

3 totally FREE CD's!!!

By zzaj, 2008-07-18

We have been very fortunate in having so many folks to play music with and being able to make so many varieties of music.

For that reason, when we spotted the INTERNET MUSIC ARCHIVE, there was no hesitation in offering up 3 of our CD's for the public to download and enjoy. In addition to being able to download all the tracks, you can also download the CD covers, in event you want to print them and add them to your collection.

The 3 are:

FREE SPIRIT SUITES: Mark Kissinger (super electric guitarist from Pennsylvania) & Rotcod Zzaj join together in a Y2K reprise that will KNOCK yer' sockzoff! A very beautiful and "gypsylike" musical experience, totally accessible & with music for all tastes!

STRANGE ATTRACTORS: A very interesting recording from Harlan Mark Vale and Dick Metcalf. Recorded in about 1988 & remastered this year for your listening pleasure.

ELEMENTS OF SUSPENSE: Our guitar-wizard friend Mark Kissinger, from Pennsylvania, did the initial trax for this fantastic journey. We were joined (on acoustic guitars & vocals) by Ernesto Diaz-Infante. I played Kurzweill PC 88.

Please help us by PASSING THIS MESSAGE ON to your musical friends everywhere. We want the max # of folks to get the benefit of this free music!
