First off - Welcome to all of the new folks to the site, and thanks to any who have felt moved enough to listen and comment on my tunes. With this rush of listeners I think some folks are giving me more credit than I deserve... All of the singing, and most of the lyrics you hear on the tunes on my page are from FocusPlayer. It is his voice that is making the tunes touch you.

As of yesterday I have fired up the music making machine again. I have a song that has been haunting me to record and I had some time to myself yesterday that I used to get the process started. My goal is to make it different than the other tunes I've done as far as tone is concerned, but once the Record button is hit that Distortion is so hard to ignore...

Not much else to report. If you haven't had a chance to check out the Nexus Radio stuff going on make sure you do!!! A lot of exciting stuff going on with the marriage of Nexus and iMusicScene... Pfft, I've had a couple of tunes played over there - How cool is that?!

Oh well, go play, listen, and record! It's all about the music.

Is it Sunday Already?

By Wizard Sleeve, 2007-11-17

Another week has passed, its sunday again, and I hope to see you all tonight from 8PM GMT (3PM Eastern US) on http://www.nexusradio.co.uk where we play all the best unsigned artists.

This week I have dedicated my tune finding time soley to http://www.imusicscene.com using their weekly charts going through and listening to EVERY downloadable tune, and downloading the ones I liked.

In Fact the only tunes I didn't download were ones I already had, there is some great talent over at iMusicScene.com, if you haven't been there already I suggest you go there now!

This week we have new tracks from:

Artificul Earth, Corrado Rossi, Dazed, Dimitry, Emocion, Gary Caricello, Lex Zaleta, Marijan, Mark C, Michael Nunley, Paul Sylvain, Peter Mercer, Pyramis, Rabid Maggot, rookie, RSCain, RWK, Shane, Syntopia, The Deep, Ratman, TLT50 and Visual Cliff

I of course still have tracks from all you other great artsits, be they from iMusicScene or Otherwise, but tonights show is dedicated first and foremost to the new tracks from IMusic. Its also not too late, you can still email me tracks to wizardsleeve@nexusradio.co.uk

In total I have 573mb of music from Imusic, thats 114 tracks.. and in total i have 6.13GB of UNSIGNED MUSIC!!!

In other news, we have the XMAS JINGLE COMPETITION: http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?id=894

and The 1 Minuite of Standup Competition: http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?id=893

Don't miss out on these, there are PRIZES TO BE WON, and everyone loves FREE STUFF!!!

Also I apologise for the technical dificulties last week. We are trying to get to the root of the problem, and we hope that it doesn't happen this week.

I'd also like everyone to give a big warm welcome to RASMUTH! The latest DJ on NEXUS RADIO who does a show on Sunday from 2am GMT (thats saturday 9PM Eastern US) I'm in the process of setting up his personal DJ space now...

Whats the DJ SPACE I hear you ask? Well fromt he front page on http://www.nexusradio.co.uk there are links on the top left that say Wizard Sleeve, RScain, Matty n Stef..

These all take you to the personal DJ pages, for example http://wizardsleeve.nexusradio.co.uk where each DJ can create a personal page to promote his show.

From there there are some great tools, such as the world wide schedual and the AUTO REQUEST FEATURE...

Whats that I hear you ask? Where have you been!!! Underneith the Image on that page is a button that say Requests, click that and you get an a-z listing of all the tracks in the DJ's Playlist all you have to do is find a tune you want and click REQUEST.

This is why TAGGING your tracks properly is important, we as DJ's are constantly having to manually tag tracks but there are plenty that we are unable to do due the artist/title not being in the file name.. it makes it hard for us to promote you and you wont appear properly on our playlist.

Whats Tagging I hear you ask... well lets start simple..

1. Download Winamp Free from http://www.winamp.com its the best thing to listn to nexus radio on and also is EASY to teach you how to tag.

2. Load the file into your playlist

3. Right click the file and select "view file info"

4. Check the ID3v1 Tag

5. Fill in Title, and Artist.. you can fill in any extra info you want but its not important.

Click UPDATE

6. If you like you can also Check ID3v2 Tag on the right hand side, click COPY FROM ID3v1, and add any extra info you want...

Click UPDATE

Other than that, I dont think i have anything else to add, Hope you have had a good weekend, I hope to see ya TONIGHT!

Peace, Love, and Nexus Radio!

I picked up a little about him along the way, he seems to live life through two cities; Berlin and New York and they happen to be two of the most musical cities on the planet so that should tell you something. He is a drummer by preference but obviously it goes a lot, lot further than that and the overidding impression of you get of this artist is that he has paid the dues, taken the lumps and improved beyond measure in both technical and emotional appeal.

In other words, a thorough going professional.

There shouldn't be, therefore, anything much to say about the technical aspects of Love Is The Key. To my ears, even before I hear note one, it should be perfect in every detail - and indeed it is. Leaving whether you like the style or content about the only thing left to talk about. Seriously, Love Is The Key is exactly what I would have expected from someone of DICARLO's experience; a clean clear mix with enough vocal headroom to give the voices the room they need to breathe and yeah amen, emote. Having worked in a Brooklyn NYC recording studio during the early 1980's I was exposed to a lot of material like Love Is The Key, all of it brilliantly written and realised. The sort of track you KNOW would work in radio and probably everywhere else too. Where are they now? Nowhere, most of that material never even seen the light of day, and that includes some great unreleased Bobby McFerrin stuff.

Aaah, but the internet is a very different place and I can see a masive audience for this wonderful song, sung with consummate ease by Ingrid Arthur a voice I would like to hear a great deal more of. Veering between fairly commercial R&B and adapting an almost spiritual/gospel feel as a second taste, it's also a track that has plenty of mileage in it. If I had to FIND a gripe (a small one admittedly) it would have to be the slight overuse of the echo on bits of the vocal. In all other respects, Love Is The Key is a terrific track that should rightly be making its way out there in the real world music business because - face it - that's where it belongs. In the meantime, though, us lucky so and so's get to have it all to ourselves. It's a very middle of the road stle though but don't let that put you off, this is craftsmanship of a high order.

Highly Recommended Soul Siren.

CLOUD

By CLOUD, 2007-11-16
CLOUD

With hypnotic rhythms reminiscent of Western American Indian pow-wows and East European laments, CLOUD discovers truth in chanting their own particular brand of R&B, Roots, Pop and Jazz. 'what goes around comes around', 'IMPOSTER BLUES', 'Take Control', 'run from the sun w yerrick!' and others keep us touching base with their music on an almost daily basis in what is fast turning into a sort of musical daily message! O.K... so maybe that means that CLOUD's life path is to write 365 songs based on 365 truths (and maybe one more for leap year) so that we can all start each and every day with a meaningful musical message. Try starting "your" day by playing one of CLOUD's tracks each morning, and you'll probably be a wiser, better person for it! So you better get to work, CLOUD. That means that you've only got to write and record 359 more songs! Sounds like a big task, but so was the Bible!... and it's now the Age of Aquarius, so maybe your time has come. We'll be waiting (and listening)! - Magic Potion/Noisehead 2007
