Put this one together yesterday afternoon... ok, so it was a looong afternoon! Actually the basic theme was one of those "accidental" compositions... I was just noodling away on the keys on Sunday while I was chatting to the wife when she said "What's that? That's really nice" - I wasn't really mindful of what I was doing so I had to kinda retrace my steps to try and figure out what I was actually doing! Anyway... I recaptured that spontaneous motif and developed it further and managed to find time Tuesday afternoon/evening to compile it all and get it down

I visited back in May. Quite an amazing place really. If you ever feel like popping over to central China I highly recommend it! Though definitely Not recommended for vertigo sufferers! zillions of steps up incredibly steep rock faces! Considered by many to be the world's most dangerous hike. Well, I guess it would be if you slip and fall!

I was reminded of the trip when I was throwing this one together... long steep ascents, grand majestic views... China...

New Video

New Video

This is my first ever attempt at making a music video...actually my first attempt at making any kind of video!!

The idea for this actually came to me in a dream... that's never happened before! All the scenes for the video were there in my early morning dream! It was about 2 weeks later that I decided I should have a go at ACTUALLY going out and filming those scenes that were still floating around in my head. I knew all the locations! All that was needed was a camera, and a nice weekend to drive the 45 min to the west coast.

I don't actually own a digicam or anything but my still camera shoots at 640x480 with full zoom function so that'll have to do!
So, into the car with camera, tripod and a few snacks and off we went! "Dusty Road" is a song from my 'Revealed' CD - it's a boy meets girl story...actually it's a me meets my wife story!

Videos

By Admin, 2008-11-04

Hey guys! In a month or so as we mentioned not long ago, Mixposure will be doing a change over to the way the site handles videos and music.

What we will be adding is a conversion server. What this means is that all videos, regardless of format will convert to flash. This is the same as YouTube. So you will be able to upload avi, mwv, mpeg etc. and we will automatically convert it to flash format behnd the scenes. This allows us to switch to one video player for Mixposure. It is a lot easier for us to manange not to mention flash is a smaller format.

As for MP3's it would be like soundclick. Upload wav or 320k mp3's and the files will convert to 192k mp3's.

In the mean time, I thought I would throw up some randow videos!

Thanks,
Dazed

November Spotlight falls on Wavephonic

By ElectronicSpotlight, 2008-11-04

Okay its Novemeber and thiis month i have put wavephonic in the spotlight. Here is a brief from the man himself ED:
Hanging out in the Hamilton music scene here in Canada back in the 70's and 80's was a great experience. You couldn't help but get swept up in the great music that was being produced in this city back then. During that time I was playing guitars and drums with friends and just starting to write my own tracks. Once the 90's hit I became interested in synthesizers and sound design, that changed my scope completely and led to a more experimental outlook on what I was writing. Currently with my own home studio I've found that with a mix of traditional instruments and todays computer technology the sky is the limit when producing original material. I label my stuff experimental because I'm never sure of what the end result is going to be, as a fan of many different genres, the music becomes a melting pot of ideas and short stories. Actually I put Alternative because it was close to the top....lol I'm really excited about producing music in todays environment, its the spice in my life and keeps me motivated to try new things. Most of what I do is a solo effort, but now the internet has connected me with some great musicians all over the world and its cool that some have givin me the opportunity to work with them. I'm having the time of my life making music and I hope theres something here that you find interesting. ...appreciate your support.. Ed

http://www.mixposure.com/WAVEphonic/

Ed creates great music and his collab's are simply superb take a listen to songs like Northern Lights with Gem and Born Of Wings with Mr.Potter and the quality is there to hear and feel. Then compare the errie production that is Machines At Night to the subtle soundscape of Passing Over a beautiful song with such a deep meaningful subject. Its a pure joy to listen and enchant oneself.

So if you can get over to Ed's page and show some support.

As always electronically yours

Sly

November week 1 charts reviews

By ElectronicSpotlight, 2008-11-04

Number 1 today :My Song Orion with 6 plays : well as i listen to this track I get a distinct retro feel coming through .The piano has a sequence feel to it as if its been quantised to dance with the pure retro drums....that hi hat is so drum machine ! in a good sense I must add.

Number 2 today : AVoid me :Emphyrio : hell yeah theres a touch of trance happening here and what a great filter squelch you've given us ! Sonic treats from Emphyrio. catch this you'll enjoy it .

Number 3 today : I Love You Baby .Linda Now this is a new artist for me I must admit I have not heard from Linda before. Great effected vocals hit 1st and the feeling of pop also comes to the fore. Then the main real vocal comes in. Sounds like those effects could be reason based ...I liked this track a lot as its so damned honest : it doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is a great little pop song.Nice one Linda.

Sly

New CGDC&J collab! "Gone Is Innocence"

DrC - Songwriting, all those fabulous keys, drums programing, and arrangement.
Gary Carciello - Terrific electric guitar harmonics and solo.
Rob Grant - Excellent Bass guitar and not "A" typical for a ballad.
Farrell Jackson - Song lyric and melody, acoustic guitar, and all vocals.

This is something different from us. It may be a mellow ballad but still very much rock and it harbors some fine musical performances.

When DrC first presented this song idea and chord structure to me, it was beautiful and I fell in love with the sound, so I jumped at the opportunity to be involved!
I always find collaborations with GCDC&J interesting by the way they build and how the final version always surprises. DrC is the man! He makes it transition from the idea stage into a full blown song.

The lyric is about how.....as life progresses and becomes more complicated, the innocence of things like first loves, new experiences, and the little pleasures of life tend to be lost, diminished, or over shadowed by all the bad in the world today. And, it becomes more and more difficult to identify the small things that keep us sane as human beings with the media constantly exploiting the ugly. Thus the feeling of.......Gone Is Innocence.

As always, it's a pleasure working with these fine, creative musicians, who are at the top of their game and I'm honored to be included in their collabs!

BTW, if anyone is wondering what that beautiful and haunting flute sound in the beginning is.....it's a Japanese flute type instrument called a Shakuhachi. I only know because DrC informed me. When he first suggested it, I thought he was talking about a sushi dish, lol!

I hope you enjoy the song!

Farrell Jackson
