When I would visit my grandmother in the Alzheimer’s and dementia wing of her care home, I watched as spouses would come and go, tending to their loved ones. The heartbreak on display was immense, but the tenderness that I witnessed was beautiful. Love still remembers, even when one doesn’t.
lyrics
He reminds her of / Someone she used to know From not that long ago If she looks / Deep within his eyes it seems There's a distant memory She says you know I'm glad you came / But please forgive me I just can't recall your name
So he just smiles and he / Strokes her hair Even though it's almost more / Than he can bear She might not/ Understand all that much But she still knows / His gentle touch And love still makes them The Perfect Pair
As he turns to go / A tear rolls down his face He hates to leave her in this place She takes his hand / And holds it oh, so near For a moment / Her mind is clear She says I know you have to go / But please remember / that I'll always love you so
And she just smiles and she / Strokes his hair Even though it's almost more / Than she can bear She might not/ Understand all that much But she still knows / He needs her touch And love still makes them The Perfect Pair

Attached is my song “The Perfect Pair” from my latest project, “Garden of Memories: Songs of Family and Home Vol. II” which was released in September 2023.
The Perfect Pair was inspired by visits to my grandmother in the Alzheimer’s and dementia wing of her care home. I watched as spouses would come and go, tending to their loved ones. The heartbreak on display was immense, but the tenderness that I witnessed was beautiful. It taught me that love still remembers, even when one doesn’t.
