Skyrocketing gas prices,
Another Mideast crisis.
Life is full of surprises -
Self-destructive devices
Racial hatred without end;
Bigots up around the bend.
Every word’s meant to offend.
They get back just what they send.
Someone turned the screws too tight;
Since then, she hasn’t been right.
Can’t shake free of this stage fright;
Can’t escape the coming night.
Seems all she does is complain
About her bleak world of pain.
Too emotionally drained
To step out and go insane.
“I’m not crazy!” she insisted.
“I’m not crazy! I’m just twisted.”
Nuclear time bomb’s ticking;
Hate-filled world ripe for picking.
Cheap patches are not sticking;
Patients screaming and kicking.
We’ve come far from the Garden;
Let our hearts and minds harden.
No amnesty, no pardon -
We’re too far from the Garden.
Someone turned the screws too tight;
Since then, he hasn’t been right.
Can’t shake free of this stage fright;
Can’t escape the coming night.
Seems all he does is complain
About his bleak world of pain.
Too emotionally drained
To step out and go insane.
“I’m not crazy!” he insisted.
“I’m not crazy! I’m just twisted.”
Satan winks and we shiver;
Black arrows in his quiver.
He shouts, “Stand and deliver!”
Dark taker, not a giver.
Where did we make that wrong turn?
Who let Heaven’s road map burn?
Is there time for us to learn
Our Father’s perfect pattern?
“We’re not crazy!” we insisted.
“We’re not crazy! We’re just twisted.”
Someone turned the screws too tight
Since then, we haven’t t been right
Can’t shake free of this stage fright
Can’t escape the coming night.
Seems all we do is complain
About our bleak world of pain.
Too emotionally drained
To step out and go insane.
“We’re not crazy!” we insisted.
“We’re not crazy! We’re just twisted.”
