The thick background pad at the first half is a great sound. The vocal harmonies give it a wonderful unified feel to it and keep it from sounding too unhappy or at least make one feel they are not...

The point you are making is so true, and it causes me to reflect. I realize that am guilty of this myself sometimes, and need to keep my priorities in line. So many people are so lonely, and yet we isolate ourselves. Are the things that take us away from each other really as important as they seem? A serious song, and yet the playful way you perform it makes me giggle a little.
