Have I said something wrong again? Did I give you pain? It wasn't meant Sometimes I cannot find the words to say I couldn't find a way In my defence If I could tear my tongue right out my head Undo what I have said And make it right But nothing that I ever say or do Will get through to you We always fight
Why can't we burn them down? The barricades between Why can't we start again? Why can't we live the dream?
Have I done something to hurt you so? A painful body blow That makes you sad So it seems that I am in the wrong again Am I the one to blame for all that's bad? If I could try to swallow up my pride Just keep it deep inside And learn to cope All that I know is that I can't live If you can't give a ray of hope
Why can't we burn them down? The barricades between Why can't we start again? Why can't we live the dream?
So here I am, a very lonely man I've done the best I can Not good enough I have no shoulder on which I can cry To try and help me by When times get tough Why couldn't we just burn the barricades? We were too much afraid We couldn't see But there is nothing left that I can say to bring back yesterday So now you're free

Ya know, Ron, I hear this and for some reason I think "Mott The Hoople. " I don't know why, but there ya go. Love this, great anthem-ish quality, and the guitar playing is on point! You rock the hell out of this!
I have been likend vocally to Ian Hunter a couple of times. Thanks for the feedback Jim

I couldn't possibly add a worthy comment ...in comparison with the expertise of your musician peers & friends.. All I can say is that I loved this song....I was pre-warned that this was a sad song so I was hesitant thinking I cannot possibly withstand any more sadness...however, I do love your music so I went ahead...as always you do not disappoint....all around great composition...& I loved the acoustic touch, especially the solos

I can hear years of performance and memories in your delivery. The way you sing, the way you play, all from experience. Thanks for the music.

It's good to write a sad song now and then Ron...especially when it's turn out this good. The acoustic adds a different but cool sound to your music, hurt fingers and all, I think it was worth it, lol. Excellent words and vocals...I dig those backing vocals. The laid back guitar solo with the delay/reverb effects is outstanding. A real powerful song Ronbo!

Used to play in many semi-pro bands in 70s, played bass for David Jackson (Van Der Graaf Generator) on some of his demo work. Have worked with Trevor Thornton - Drummer (Saxon, Asia), Ray Brookes - Multi instrumentalist and songwriter (Rory Gallagher Band), Kathy Short - Singer/songwriter (Kathy & the Short-List), Fred White - Drummer, Carol Sue - Singer/songwriter and guitarist, Ern and The TrueVulgarian - Singer/songwriters, Paul Rainbird (band mate from early bands) and Ricky Moore (Songwriter and guitarist). Played Windsor free festival on same billing as Hawkwind and met the late great lemmy. In the 80s played in "Shoot the Butler" who released an indie album, cut at Abbey Road. Back to gigging for a while, then the studio for a cassette release called "Final Curtain" by Flix. Wilderness for 10 years,. Now I am back writing and producing my own stuff. Cuts down on band disagreements :D
