I first became interested in learning to play guitar when I realized it would mean one-on-one practices with Jean Burke who played for our church services every morning at Pius X Elementary School in Omaha Nebraska. She had reddish hair and the deepest blue eyes I'd encountered up to that point.
I never got good enough, fast enough to actually land that gig. Fact is ... I never got brave enough to even try out for it. But I never really put the guitar down after that either.
I actually began to learn music when I discovered the lending policy on B.B. King records from the High Street Walgreens cutout bin in Morgantown, West Virginia. The terms were generous.
From playing, I went to churning out songs. Now I write because I can, or so I tell myself. Several other people seem to agree - including my mother and one or two old junior high school drinking buddies.
My hope is that I'll write one song honest enough to reach one person. Make them tap a toe. Make them laugh or cry. Think. Dance. Reflect. Rant. Just don't let them fall asleep. Maybe that's why the sleeping theme comes up so often. And metro trains.
Thanks for stopping by. If you hear something you like (or otherwise) by all means drop a line and let me know.
