You and iMusicScene

I just wanted to post a quick message so everyone is clear. When we are talking about our music, it is obviously a very personal thing that we have decided to share with everyone on the internet. That being said, we hope people will like our music. Like many bands on the charts today have found out along the way, that will not always be the case. No artist will ever find that every person loves their music. I can rattle off 50 top selling bands and still find people on here who do not like them. That is just a music reality.

This leads me up to Reviews and Private Messages on iMusicScene. If you listen to an artist on here that you can't stand and then decide to let that artist know how bad they are, that is entirely up to you. Just remember, they will be reviewing your music as well. Most likely after reading your review. Sometime it is better to just walk away. If you have received a bad review, you can keep it or delete it. If you are getting Private Messages from someone that you do not like, just block the user. Please do not ask the iMS staff to choose sides. We are here for the music, not to play mediator between fighting members.

If you want us to ban an artist or a member, we try and stay away from that. We have done it in the past but only as a last resort. So if you are out there just trying to cause problems, please think again.

The iMS Staff

Thanks for stepping up to the plate guys and sharing your thoughts.

I guess the reason I wanted to bring this up is GuitaristWorks was always about helping each other out and not about egos. There was never a feeling in the air of "should I post this song or not?" You posted the song without the fear of getting enough negative reviews that it required a psychiatrist lol. I would like to see iMusicScene develop some of the same principles!

I think it is best to get this stuff out in the open. I would be lying to myself if I thought every review I received was nothing but roses. I learn nothing from that. It is how you convey it that is important. When I give reviews, I always try and put on my manager hat. When I had to do management reviews, I always tried to find some positives as well as areas for improvement. If your manager only identified the negatives in you, how motivated would you be?

I've been a member here, I think a whole week or so and have already had a comment directed my way not relating to music embedded in a review. It was colossal chunk of ignorance that I just chose to ignore and not dignify with a response.

Dazed, I don't think what you said was bad in any way. What I do think is sad, is that grown adults act like a bunch of kids and that you have to post something like that on your front page telling everybody to get along. Sad that have you have to give adults the "Everybody play nice now" speech.

This doesn't send the best signal for those just surfing through deciding whether or not to join reading that on the front page, but I guess what else do you do?

BTW, KOR - You more than likely play better than the person who decided to shred you. Probably why they did it.

Anyhoo, 2 cents from a noob.

Hey KOR!

I know you were on part of the receiving end of what I was referring to.

You bring up a good point. I have two nephews who have just signed up here and are new to guitar. They do however play piano extremely well so I have high hopes for guitar. I am wondering if they post a guitar clip if they are going to get negative feedback?
