iMS Closing Down - Sort of LOL .....

<p><span style="font-size: small;">Well I said we had an announcement coming and I was not kidding. There was talk of iMusicScene closing down and essentially it will over the next few months. The reason being? We bought a new domain name that some of you will remember called Mixposure.com. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">The domain name was expiring and I left a message for Kyle, the old owner of Mixposure. I never had a return call and he let it expire. That was sad because I wanted to buy it from him. Instead it basically went to someone who had the domain name on backorder. These companies do that so they can sell the domain for a huge profit.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Mixposure had a rich history and a lot of talented artist. I hated to see the domain name go to waste so I started the transaction on Friday and it completed today. I almost canceled it over the weekend after everything that went on.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">I think this is a great move for us personally. Yes I am sad that iMS Name will be going away in a way. But I think the Mixposure name had such a great following we will just add to the great artist here.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">I am not sure how some people are going to take this. Some may find it great. Others may be saddened. This is why i was going to leave the site down for a few days so when you returned, everything would be done.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">So this is our big announcement! Love it? Hate? You tell me. We will be changing everything up over the next few days. All links will still work. Those of you that were here when we changed from GuitaristWorks to iMS may remember the fun lol.</span></p>

Let me say first that I liked Kyle a great deal but it did seem that the site admin work over time, had him overwhelmed and in the end totally screwed. I think it's fair to say we all were sorry and disappointed when Mixposure closed up shop.
I came to this site by way of a referral from Lex Zalta. I was an old Mixposure guy and when the site closed it really upset a lot of people and I was reluctant to invest any time in another site like it for fear of the same outcome.
I must say that the administration of this site has been nothing short of stellar. I use that word sparingly but in your case Dazed...it's totally appropriate.
I'm a full time musician and engineer and this is how I have earn my living for 35 years or more. I've seen most of what's around, and I found this site to be an excellent platform for feedback and fellowship in the work at any level. I'm a bit jaded but the outpouring of good will in this community for Rob when he was stricken was nothing short of amazing.
Dazed, it is my fondest hope that you get all you deserve and more from this endeavor. I sincerely hope that you only get the good vibe that was the Mix and none of the blowback. You certainly wouldn't deserve it.
When I can I will continue to sing your praises and send as many of the great friends I've made in the biz to the site. It has been a pleasure for me and the people in my label to participate...so please accept our best wishes and

Bloody hell I can upload "rip of rip of rip of" tongue in cheek style.
I grew up as an artist on mixposure so I have too say to see the name is great,mixed feelings for sure.Many old mix members are here already so its not like a new site which is good.Dazed a huge hat tip from me for securing the domain it really would have been a shame to see it go elsewhere and be used for something other than an OMD.
The old mix certainly had its ups and downs and good and bad times but essentially for me it introduced me too so many friends who have remained ,musicians of the highest quality - personalities you wouldn't find elsewhere.
I think the place can only improve with its "famaliar" name in place I only hope you don't get flak coming at you for things that happened in the past.
A new beginning.
One last word though A thought for Kyle : If you read this Kyle thanks for all you did with mixposure it was a great site and bought many people together I hope this new incarnation can have the same feel as the old one in its heyday.

My recording and posting started in 07 here. I was welcomed and felt I was "home" with great people sharing the same love of music and ideas to get better at making good music.
It just seems to me we moved to a different "home" with a different address but it looks and feels just like the old one to me. I think it's great to still be here and don't really care what's it's called. So thanks Dazed and everyone else for this place.

I think us old mixers are bound to have the odd feeling about it.
But we're a canny bunch,we know that our bad memories are really linked to a man,not so much a name.
We were VERY loyal to that name,so now,we have that name back,and we have the same captain as the one oh HMS IMS,so far as I can see we have the best of both worlds really.

i'm with BrainSt0rm....it's really weird! especially after all the time, effort, blood sweat and tears i put into the original Mixposure.
it's good to see the Mix name tho. i'm sure everything will be just fine!!! =)
I came from Mixposure and i have seen this place grow and getting better all the time...thank you Dazed!Mixposure name give me lot's of different feelings...good and bad.When Mixposure went down it was shock...it was great place.IMHO this site can be even better.One thing...Kyle was very distant person for many of us,no PM messages or talking in chat etc.You have different style and that makes big different how i feel about this site.
I think that learn to live with new name very soon.
Main thing for me is that this site continue it's to growing best music site in the net.You have done excellent work so far!

I'm not sure how I feel about this either...Feels a little like waking the dead...Mix was a great time for me, for lots of us and I hope that it will be great again in a new, different way, though I think it's unnecessary..Now, can I get all my reviews back, received and written from there?...heheeee, now that would be just too cool...I'm sure rapster would be delighted, he'd written and received so many...Good luck with the site and always "fight the good fight"..

Fair enough, Dazed. I don't have any issues with anything here. Maybe I was the only soul who wondered about all of that. Blame it on 15 years in journalism. I'm just glad as hell this place is back, regardless of the name, and that the same crew is steering the ship. That should say it all, Dazed. And, you know where I am if you need a hand.

Well I really don't care what the site is called to tell you the truth. The IMPORTANT thing is that we're still together. I've been here since it was Guitarworks, then IMS and now Mixposure.

Makes no difference to me. I never heard of Mixposure until after it closed and I was here. I have no experience good or bad.
If you can build on what was good at the former Mixposure site, then the bad memories will be just that -- a past memory.
I have to be fully honest and ask what (to me) is the obvious question about the events this past weekend. I understand there was an issue back in February, but how much of the turmoil of this past weekend was truly related to that, vs. the pending purchase of Mixposure and the related site formatting/rebuilding, etc.? Again, it is understandable that you wouldn't want to make the purchase announcement until all your ducks were in order, but I have to wonder about the stated reason given for what took place over the weekend.
No matter. The site is still here, regardless of the name, and at the end of the day, that's what's important.

I don't think the name matters that much, except to people who had bad Mixposure moments. What matters more is what kind of site it is and how much people really understand about building audiences. I like this site and I think it has tremendous potential.
There again, what do I know? Drink for Dazed I think...
humm...strange to hear and see...BUT ! Now that i know how envolved Dazed & Crew (admin) keeps this site "current" and how great to be a part of..i commend the move...It's what Mixposure always needed...someone dedicated at the helm.

I was torn with buying it. It was not cheap. I passed up on a hell of a lot of gear to get it lol. But I hated to see it go to waste. Mix was a great site. I agree we have the crew, not to mention the artists here to make this site be the best on the internet.

The upside for me is that my business card, printed posters, and my website are now back in use. I don't use my website much these days, but only realised the other day that all the links to my music on my site were linked to mixposure. It may have cost you a lot Dazed but you've saved me a lot of time and money. Thanks....lol
Seriously, though, I don't think it's going to make a huge difference to anyone. I'm just happy to see that the site will still be going after last weekend's scare. I'd like to think that a lot of the old mixposers who haven't joined here might be encouraged to come in, but I'd have thought they'd be here by now if they were coming.

Paul it was the events over the weekend that were pissing me off. I had the site purchased on Friday. After everything that went on with Jaugernaut on Nexus, WildCherry and I kept asking ourselves is it really worth it? We put a lot of effort into running this site as do the mods and our new admin Reaper! But the stress can be alarming. When the fun is taken out of it, you kind of say screw it. All we wanted to do here is enjoy some great music and chat with friends.
In buying the Mixposure domain, I had my finger on the cancel button more than once. This was not a $9.95 domain purchase. I could have bought a few carvins and amps. So when you are making that kind of investment, then dealing with all the other BS, we were thinking just walk away.
We received many emails of support not to mention phone calls. In the end, we realized that this is our second home. We are closer with some people on here more than our on family members.
So you can imagine my dilemna when I am thinking this would be a good move for the site to help build and all that going down. To tell you I was frustrated is an understatement.
AWESOME! I think this is a great site no matter what you call it. I'm excited to see how it is growing and am looking forward to a bright future!
