Review Crew
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Just wanted to update everyone on the Review Crew. While the poll was in favor of having one, it just seemed to stir up too much emotion in people that were against it. The Review Crew was something I thought could be a valuable tool for musicians who wanted an honest opinion of their music in order to make it better.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">My suggestion for those of you who are looking for more in depth and honest feedback on your songs is to note the song information area. Also use the Spotlight Feature on your song to help dra attention to it. This way if reviewers take the the time to read your song information, they will know specifically what you are looking for. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Maybe down the road we can revisit this topic and try again. Many thanks to all who participated and my apologies for folding on the idea even though the voting was in favor of it. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Dazed<br /></span></p><p> </p>

Argument? Not really.... It's an opinionated "Blog".......and since I have emotionally attached myself to this site, I can't help myself, but wonder certain things and express certain feelings.
To anyone new who come here and reads this......I'm sure it's HILARIOUS and I'm probably looked at as a "LOON". That's OK, because they haven't been around the site or don't have the same agenda or attitudes towards an OMD as I may. That's fine.
Brian, I have ONE Question.....WHY....do you come here to "Blog" and participate in these constructive thoughts to improve the site, when you have no intention of participating in the music or commenting on music, anyway. You stated it is "unlikely" that you will post music here in the future, so why bother post in the "Blogs"?
It's your "right" to do so, of course, but it just "seems" disruptive, while we're trying to move forward. HEY!!! I'm blaming ME, too. As everytime I "Blog" here....I am participating in what some may see as being sensless, pointless, and disruptive. It certainly has been wasting a lot of space in my head and that's MY problem........unfortunately, I have brought it oput to the public......and I really wish I didn't. I just can't help myself. It's me and I NEVER have learned to JUST keep my mouth shut. "Karma" will get me, as it always does......and I think it may have already started.

Hi all, I think the conclusion to this argument has been reached. people are gonna review, admin have put in place the means to select the kind of review you can ask for. I've done my bit in the reviewing process. I've had, and still get a lot of response from what I gave. I recently put up some very experimental work, the reviews I got changed my direction in how I was going to use those pieces. So in many ways it's how you as the recipient choose to view what is written
This is the last time I'll be commenting on a reviewing blog. There are issues with the process and maybe even what actually constitutes a review. How it should be counted etc. However that is an admin issue and as has been said, the process is being looked at.
As Nigel rightly says, it's about the music. Time to bury the argument.

It's an open site...and it's expected that there will be a wide range of opinions. I was merely expressing my view and my agenda. You are expressing yours and I understand yours and it's all good with me. NOW!!! At the risk of hogging this blog, I thought I should indicate that as soon as I had posted my most recent entry I received communication from Rob Grant (who would not have had the chance of seeing my entry) confirming he had asked his entry to be removed.
Rick (reapersg) also confirmed this by PM.
I still don't quite understand that we are able to go back in time and erase events that we don't like, but in saying that I'm not in any way having a shot at Rob or Rick or the admins.
I accept that admin are working through things. But just don't think that the rose coloured world is necessarily the best. In the rose coloured world, for example, the blues wouldn't exist.

I'm even more bemused. Rob Grant had posted a further response to this thread. It's now not there. I've seen things disappear here a few times on this site lately. I didn't agree with all of Rob's points, but he and I have had differences of opinion over the years which has never stopped us keeping what I believe is a close friendship. If his post was deleted because it may have offended me it was a gross overreaction.
I understood this to be an "admin blog" and presume that Rob didn't have the capacity to remove his post. If that's right I can't see why it was deleted. And if it was deleted at Rob's request, I find that weird too. I've left threads in here that I've woken up the next morning and thought "did I really post that". I realise that in those circumstances I have to deal with the people that I've upset or offended. That's part of life. Often dealing with delicate and difficult situations has the capacity of bringing people closer together.
I assume that I was the person that had got under Rob's goat. As I said above, that's happened before and vice versa and we've been able to work it out between us.
I really do not understand what's happening in here at the moment.

I think, the new Review Option feature will work well. If someone feels inclined to get really "to the bottom" of a tune, they will. And that's very cool! Everyone can be giving input from their experience as to what works and what doesn't.
I don't see anything wrong with that at all.

Airemeki44...If people voted against the RC it's not because they don't understand it or are not "ready" for it.They reflected upon the matter and had their reason to decide against it, whatever reason that was...just like the others that were in favor...that's how a poll works you know
Dazed....If the majority of the voters were in favor , then Mixposure should implement the feature...That's why polls are used.If the voters opinion don't count, then Mixposure should implement new features without a poll.

The forum idea seems like a simple solution to all this. I am not sure why anyone would be against it? If they don't want to participate than they don't have to. Just those who looking for advice. Not sure what problem is here???
Gabe, this was the idea all along. Just not in the forum, but a feature an artist could have chosen by open up their songs for the crew ...
Dazed, I think this will work as well as the RC. There have been times people have asked for specific requests, to which I have added comments. This is a good idea. I like this a lot.......I like having a book in my pants, before getting spanked.

I don't blame you Dazed. Thanks for the idea and for going this bone-dry, winding road, trying to implement a cool new feature. It some people just don't want understand; I guess, we're not ready yet for ideas like this one was.
I'm saddened by it, yes. I'm saddened to see how the actual Review situation develops right now ... never did one get as little reviews (i.e., pads+praises, lol) than now.

This is my "Rose colored" world. Why shouldn't be? Does everything have to have negativity attached to it? Brian, you know me pretty good now.....all I wanted to do, by having my comment removed, was avoid having you think it was a shot at you. It wasn't, AT ALL. It was just an opinion about OMD's in general. Why can't people except the fact that these are open sites for all levels of musicianship and everybody has different agendas. I am 58 years old and don't give a rats @ss about becoming an audio engineer. I do the best I can, I am always learning and have friends that help. I LIKE "pats on the back" and if someone thinks I suck, I'd rather they keep it to themselves and not listen to my music. Pain and simple. I don't knock others for there imperfections and I don't expect to be knocked. As far as I've seen...there is not one successful STAR here. There are a H@LL of a lot of SUPER Musicians, but what does that mean, that's all just my opinion. They are MY SUPER MUSICIANS!! Would everybody agree on who I think are the SUPER MUSICIANS? Brian, I have ALL the RESPECT in the world for and you ARE one of my FAVORITE people to interact with. This is my SAFE Rose Colored Haven and I hope it stays POSITIVE!!!

As one of those involved in the raising of this issue many months ago now, I'm somewhat bemused that the RSC has been voted for by a majority of those who bothered to vote, but has nonetheless been scarpered. That's admin's prerogative and I don't criticise them for that.
But if the ethos of the site is let's not offend anyone, which unfortunately I think it is, don't expect the New Review Option to change anything. Why would anyone bother taking the time to listen carefully to someone else's music and make constructive suggestions when with a couple of pats on the back you're likely to get much more feedback. Even review your own tracks and you'll leap up the charts if that's what turns you on.
Good luck with it, but don't hold your breath. Fortunately, I'm in a similar position to one which Farrell Jackson mentioned in an earlier blog. There are people I've got to know over the years who are prepared to tell me what they really think and vice versa. I just thought the collective talent and wisdom in here might have been able to be put to better purpose.
And Nigel, glad to see you can see the humour in the situation.

Just a suggestion Dazed. I don't think having critical reviews is a bad thing at all for those that want it. Maybe setting up a "critique my track" section in the forum may be a good starting point?
