July Song Review Contest

We wanted to announce a little contest for the month of July. We are going to take a count of all "song comments" made by every member here and we will post the results. At the end of July we will see who has done the most song reviews and will upgrade their account to the next level. We will post updates through the month so everyne can see where they stand.

We will be looking at the review content. A review is not, "Cool Tune" or "Enjoyed it" so please make your review count. Here are some ideas for reviewing.

Strength of hook/title:
Originality:
Appeal:
Focus:
Phrasing/cadence:
Arrangement:
Musicianship:
Strength of Melody/prosody:
Vocal delivery:
Backing vox:
Collaboration effort:
Recording mix/technical:

Thanks,

Hey guys thanks for supporting this! I do not want the charts to be an end all event here. Some people live and die by charts and personally I rarely visit them. I do however think some of the charts I added will help airplay and also reviews. The little "R" review button should prove to be valuable. The last 10 songs added should help also. I can also increase that number which may be a good idea.
Don't forget to mass e-mail this out Dazed

excellent ideas doc.. just PLEASE dazed never make reviewing OR rating anonymus (sic?).. it has ruined so many sites where people trash each other to top the charts.. that's really the only reason i'm against charts.. there are unfortunately still people who will cheat and stoop and deceive to achieve.. i think we usually call them politicians or CEOs..
Hey, this is a brilliant idea! If we srart doing that, our reviews will really become meaningful. But there's a really big IF there...
Is there any way you can device some sort of a standard questionnaire or a rating scale (say, 0 to 5) based on the questions you mentioned? This way, instead of writing long detailed reviews (for which some of us may not have time), we'll only have to click on checkboxes.
If we start doing something like that, I believe the review numbers not only could skyrocket but also songs could have somewhat realistic chert ratings based on their merit and not on the number of play.
But on the other hand, like Rapster said, don't we all write reviews like you want us to? LOL...
hey that sounds like what we all write in our reviews.. lol.. cool idea man.. lots of things to measure up to though.. uh oh... )
Now we're talking
excellent!
Nigel.
