Site Maintenance
Apologies for the site being up and down on Sunday! Our host identified some hardware issues that were causing the site to slow down. I am happy to say they fixed it and Mixposure is now smoking again! I see a huge difference in the page loads.

We made some code changes to the site today and some more will be coming this week. Once I get everything in I will send a message out detailing what was changed. I think I fixed most of the bugs today but please let me know if you see anything!

Thanks and Sorry!
Dazed
8 gig of Ram?!?!?
Damn I wish.
So 8 gig of ram, fancy graphic card and a P4 as well.
To think I used to listen to the same songs I listen to now on a 166.
Todays internet is not driven by need, but by greed.
VERY little has changed in what media we stream, and there really is no need whatsover to have everything so massivly big.
On a 166 I was on the internet streaming music and video.
Now I am on a p4 streaming music and video from the same sites, and often with the same players.
Often (NOT mixposure) it is the damned adverts that are pumping the hardware.
Nah,so,in short, not buying the need aspect.
It is because it is.
Nigel.
Well, Ed - outdated computer equipment with the way the web is developing doesn't help. LOL! So, yeay .... minimum of 4 GB is my recommendation these days. Also, a graphics card with at least 1 MB RAM helps big time.
lol, ah okay mike, thats my problem, I need 8gig of ram
I just notice a short pop and have a millisecond of a pause in the player when I minimize and/or maximize the player. And that's on a machine with 8GB of RAM. Needless to say, I am able to review while I am listening. No big deal on this end, really.
DJ`S AND SCHEDULE = BRAVO DAZED!!!
Neda
The player on its own is fine, but if I want to minimize it and listen while I do other stuff, I'm dead. Maybe you could make a choice in prefs to choose a much lower stamp player for less than stellar machines.
Dazed !
I personal think what you mentioned about artists who are selling theire music, and refering to audio grabber software is...mwaaa....! We are talking about 192mp3 bitrate here ! Who is willing to pay for that quality ? I'm certainly not, and I know Wavephonic is either ! We are talking about sample format here. In every other business samples are freebies ! As for te player....I agree with ED, hate that freezing side effect...it is annoying ! And YES SC player is from the perspective of multitasking an excellent player!..... Selling Music ? Hardcopy CD is still the way to go ! And some cool artists are even giving them away as promo (Thanx ED) ! Times are a changing ! Though not every change is a good one !
No its not a whiz bang machine I have for the net, my power puters are in my studio. I have no plans to upgrade for the net because it works fine for 99% of what I do. When I'm at soundclick, their player is such a low stamp on resources, I can listen and bring up multiple pages on top of that. I often browse with 2 instances of IE up, also with no problems. I think its because of the flash stuff on the site, when the flashplayer gets on top of that, I freeze. No Problem at all though, I understand what your doing and for newer machines its probably all good.
Maybe down the road if I get a new machine I'll venture back.
The site looks great, great people, cool admin, top music, I'll miss it.
Because its very important to me to return reviews, I'll probably take my music down so it doesn't look like I'm not returning support.
Its all cool.
I understand Wave. My first responsibility is to the artist here. The way you mention is just not secure for artists selling music. Google "soundclick ripper" or "myspace ripper" and you will see what I mean. The flash player is the most secure method I have found. I have tested this with mac and a 3.0Ghz P4 PC with no problems like you have mentioned. What are you using? Is anyone else having issues?
would be nice to have a choice in your prefs. I'm just trying it out again and...With my own player I can pull up a song, eq it then minimize it. Then I can pull up the review page, jot down some thoughts while the song plays. Then I can even go to the artist home on another page.
With the flash player, I can pull up the song, thats it, everything behind it is frozen. No problem though if thats what everyone likes.
For me, I'll just have to evaluate whether the hassle is worth it.
Wave tes we will be going to a flash player for the majority of audio and video. I am no done yet but if there is a resource issue, let's take a look at it and make sue it is not the player.
Flash is just more secure and I no longer have to worry about people not having their players setup for m3u and pls extensions. I just needed a flash player that had the ability to fast forward and rewind!
Would be nice if I could tell them when to do their fixes
Well I did the show 1.15 delayed ! No probs ! Next time maybe another time for the fixx !
There now,and I thought the first ever invention had been made that did not break down or require maintaince.
Shows ya what I know!
Nigel.
hopefully your not going back to that flashplayer again for single songs. Its great for your page collections but a hassle for single song plays while reviewing, takes too much resources to run. At least for me it does, with that thing I can't have multiple pages up, sucks the power right out of me.
so true Nigel, food I need, massive computer for the internet?
nope!!
just so you guys know....my pc I use for surfing has 512mb ram and is 3.0Ghz. I get around fine. My point here is I want to make sure there is not a pc issue or maybe a memory leak on the flash player.
