Best Concert?

I was thinking about this today and trying to determine what was the best concert I went to. I have not been to a ton of concerts but off the top of my head I can remember Queen, Rainbow/Pat Travers, JGeils, Van Halen several times, Sammy Hagar a few times, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, RUSH (many times), Pat Travers, Dio and a bunch of others I can't recall.

I still think seeing Sammy solo was the most entertaining. He was just a powerhouse of a showman. The guy was all over the stage and up near the roof for a bit. RUSH was amazing from a musicians standpoint. Those three guys sound like they have 20 people playing.

Queen was my fist concert as a young kid. I was already playing guitar at that time but that show really turned me on to what a band was all about and the fun that could be had!

Feel free to chime in!

I'm old enough for Traffic with Stevie Winwood; Genesis with Peter Gabriel; Tull; Who (Who's next tour) ELP; Grand Funk; Stones with Etta James; John Mayall; but I'd have to say that the best was David Grissman Quintet with Sefan Grapelli. Of course, there are many, many more, too numerous to mention!

Maurice I went to that same concert in Denver - Dio, Loverboy and Van Halen. There was another band but I cant think of it.

I am waiting for anyone to post about Floyd, Springsteen, U2 etc.

The best concerts I've seen come down to two. 1971 at the Fillmore West....Black Sabbath opened for Yes.....Sabbath was awesome with their heavy rock style and then Yes came out and blew me away with their classical rock style, vocal harmonies, and laser show galore but the very best I've seen, and it's a real toss up, was Jethro Tull on the very last stop of their US tour in about 1985 or so at the Fox Theater in Stockton California. The venue held about 5000 but about 1500 showed up and all gathered in front of the stage.....being the last gig and an enthusiastic crowd I think the band and Ian Anderson gave something extra that night.....the sound and performance was perfect with the mix of folk and heavy rock....no frills just excellent musicianship. It was something I've not experienced since and I've been to many since then. I can still hear the opening of Thick As A Brick.....a moment in time I guess.
