Don't You **** on Me
Thanks to my friend Alexis I've got a bit of info on this little statue !!!!

There is a lot to do about the history of this littlestatue. There are several legends about this. For this look under the de site of the educationpoint .

Officially Hiƫronymus Duquesnoy the old made the original of this statue in 1619. In fact he got his insiration from oldere statues. Originally it stood on a pedestal of 6 foot high. During the bombardements of Bruxelles in 1695 by the sun king Louis XIV, the little statue was taken from his pedestal to protect the little man from the shootings.

In 1745 the statue was stolen by the english soldiers. The inhabitants of Geeraardsbergen could take it back from the soldiers. After exposing it on their Great Place, it was given back to the bruxellars.

A little later, in 1747 it was even stolen twice bij french soldiers. The second time there were troubles in Bruxelles and a masacre was hardly avoided.Ling Louis XV had the soldiers punished for their wantonnes. In order to put the Bruasslars back in a good mood he gave the little Manneken a beautiful outfit embroided with gold, a feathered hood and a sword. Manneken Pis was knighted it to the nobility to the order of Saint Louis. This meant that the French had to salute the statue passing by...

The statue became aclassicistic, belgian limestone niche in 1770 to replace the podest.

Stil the original statue did not last till now : in 1817 it was stolen and broken by a recently liberated hard labour. With help of fragments a new mould was vreated. With this a new Manneken Pis was moulded and exposed again on 6 december 1818.

The statue has several outfits. Its first outfit was given by Maximiliaan-Emmanuel of Beieren, which was councelar-general of the Netherlands from 1692 until 1714. He participated at a feast for the arquebuses shooters in 1698. He was able to shoot the upper jay and was elected to king of the gild. The happy Maximilian donated al the brothers of the guild an outfit of blue cloth of Beieren and gave one to Manneken Pis. At the moment its garderobe exist of 600 outfits, they are stored in the house of the king or in the Museum of the Town. Manneken Pis received his first outfit 1 may 1698. The governor of the Austrian Netherlands gave the outfit at the occasion of a fest organised by a Brussels guild. Manneken Pis still receieves often outfits. As thanks he gives the donators a barrel of beer that is connected directly to the little statue. Special outfits are that as Elvis Presley or Mickey Mouse .

There are many histories about Manneken Pis. According to one of the legends a little boy urinated against a door of a witch living at the polace where the fountain stays at this moment. The witch was so cross that she changed the boy into a statue. An other legend tells that a man had lost his son. He found the boy after two days, nearby the place where the statue can be admired today. When the father saw the child, it was urinating. As a sign of freedom, the father had made a fountain with a urinating little boy.

In Geraardsbergen they assure that they were the first ones to have a Manneken Pis. Fact is that they have a Manneken Pis since 1459. According to the Brussels Archives a little statue stood in 1452 on the corner of the Stovestreet and the Oakstreet. This statue was called 'Juliaensken Borre' (= in fact fountain of the little Juliaan). In common language it was often called 'Manneken-Pis' ,because of its special form. The common denomination had the priority above the official nomination, which is not to be found after after 1668 . This first statue was made of stone.

(With thanks to Bas van Iersel about the garderobe and the legends!)

Music Video

By thevelmas, 2008-04-16

Just wanted to announce that or very first music video was officially released yesterday! Please check it out!

TELL HER I LOVE HER:
The Velmas - Tell Her I Love Her

Posted in: random | 2 comments

I finally completed the mixing and mastering of my acoustic CD "The Tort Stripped Bare" yesterday.

As a result I have replaced the earlier versions that I'd posted here with the new mastered versions. Unless I've clicked the wrong button they should be available for free download.

The tracks as

Six O'Clock Swill
Time To Train the Horses
Oldest Roadies on the Earth
Mid Life Crisis

I've also decided to add Come on By as a bonus track to the CD, even though it's not unplugged. Can't imagine it fitting into any other CD I'm likely to do so this seemed a good place for it.

It too has been mastered and the new version has been put up in place of the original.

Not asking people to go back and review their reviews. Just letting you know they're there.

Cheers

Brian

NEW BLUE.. REMIX.. thanks Di.. :-)

man thank god for drummers.. you can depend on them to call you on it if you were
sleepin with the drum track.. I forgot when making NEW BLUE to go back and vary the
drum loop a bit more.. and Dicarlo spotted it immediately.. just a loop with only 2 rolls in
the whole thing.. no ride or crash cymbals.. lol.. so now finally I've gota round to remixing it..
had a blast not overdoing the rolls and crashes lol.. and a general tweak was in order..
turned down the loud lead solos.. and the vocals too.. got more live feel now.. bass drums and guitar jammin together.. if you haven't heard it already you're lucky.. this version is hopefully much better.. appreciate as always your listens and comments.. cheers..

Just a slight Bug

By Admin, 2008-04-15

<p>Well I thought the Flash Players were working great. Then Asysha63 had to tell me she found a bug and squash my hopes lol :). Good catch Asysha and thanks! I made a slight code change on the player and the links appear to be working now. I have updated the code on the artist pages. </p>The problem she found was that the links to the artist pages were not working. We fixed it for most sites however MySpace recently made a change disabling all links in Flash Players unless you pay them for licensing. So the links will not work there obviously! If you have posted the player on a site and the links to your artist page do not work, try testing the new code out from your artist page. If the links still do not work, just add a link below the player to your site by using the html format. <p>I have tested the player out on a few sites with no problems. Ashya had a problem with the new code on another site she uses. We did the workaround with the link below the player. If you have problems, please let me know. It is impossible for me to test every site that is out there so I need your help! Remember these players are more for MySpace, TagWorld, Facebook, Band WebSite etc. For forums use the individual song links supplied from your artist page!</p><p>Thanks, </p><p>Dazed</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

In Your Eyes

In Your Eyes

Syntopia Music feat. Apparition - In Your Eyes

My new Latin Pop-Balad song with the great latin musican "Apparition"
Lyrics,Vocals and Guitar by Apparition

Apparition was born in Guatemala City in Central America, known by friends and family by his real name: Miguel Emilio Aparicio.

Apparition: During the fantastic Journey of Life I had devoted many years of musical research, mainly into Sound Synthesis, Electronic Music Composition and Eclectic Genres.
Through my wondering in the electronic WEB I had the opportunity of making a great friendship with Sven, or Syntopia, through the universal roads of Internet. I was delighted with Syntopia's excellent musical material, impressive sound and unique musical ideas.

It was a natural consequence of our mutual admiration and respect, to realize a collaborative effort, exploring the romantic musical areas with Sven's idea for a VERY sweet melody.
The result of this collaboration, is here. Exploring the incredible avenue of virtual singing and Variphrase technologies, combined with the outstanding Syntopia's musical style, I got the inspiration for the proper lyrics. This inspiration emanated from the musical phrases itself! The words just appear one after the other, in erfect adaption to the musical phrasing, resulting in a very suggestive piece.

Syntopia and Apparition invite the listeners to enjoy this first collaborative effort, the first of many to come in the future.

Updated Train To Normal

By Farrell Jackson, 2008-04-13
Updated Train To Normal

Hi all. I've just updated my song Train To Normal with the addition of real drums. My good friend Frank Northcutt has graciously played them for me. At the very end of the song as it picks up speed, giving the impression of a train heading off into the distance, Frank did and excellent job of keeping the drums up with the rest of the music as it randomly gains speed. That couldn't have been easy. The drums are purposely mixed low as they are playing a supportive but very important part in the song. Thanks Frank!

New Track "Come on By"

By selftort, 2008-04-13
New Track "Come on By"

This is very much a change of pace for me. It's very mellow and has a fairly country feel to it. The story behind it is in the info section if you're interested. It's very much a "lyric-based" song. Unfortunately, in terms of pitching it's too long, but blowed if I can work out how to shorten if.

Cheers
