Hey everyone! Sorry I have been MIA the last week but I have been racking my brain doing site upgrades. Here is where we are at so far. The second server is up and running. You may notice the www2.mixposure.com/bandname url. The www2 is transparent so please use the normal url for any links.

The Flash Players have been upgraded and there is now a slide bar to forward and reverse within a song. I will also be adding some more players so you can have a color choice for your page. The embed code on the new player is not correct so please refrain from using it at the moment! Good find Blake! It should be fixed today.

With the upgrades, all videos will now convert to flash file format behind the scenes. I have not tested all formats but wmv, mov, mpg, mpeg, m4v, f4v are all acceptable to upload now. Since we will only have Flash Video on the site now, this is the same as YouTube by the way, we will need one video player. What doe this mean to you? Well this weekend I will be putting in the new video players on the site. Any videos that you have uploaded that were not flash, will not work. Please Modify the Video, and upload the same video again. This way all comments will be retained. In a week we will delete any videos that are left over.

Since our video files are going to take up a lot less space, our Premium Members can now upload 320k bitrate songs. The same rules apply here gang, PLEASE MODIFY YOUR SONG and upload the high bitrate version. DELETING the song will cause you to lose all reviews!!! Thanks for supporting the site. Without you, these upgrades would not be possible!

Now I know that the odds are we are going to find a few bugs. If you see something that is not right, please post it in the HELP FORUM so we can track it.

Oh there is a YouTube Video Page I am working on. It is experimental at the moment and may or may not stay. I need to test a few things and determine if we want to use it or not.

More details coming everyone and thanks for supporting Mixposure.

Dazed

Part of my tone is achived by turning the amps way up....a luxury I can afford due to a spare bedroom in my home studio set aside just for that purpose. The 50 watt Marshall JMP is cranked to about 8 and the Marshall Jubilee is on about 7and set to the 50 watt setting. Load enough to kill small animals at 20 paces....seriously the power tubes need to be worked a bit. I love Jimi Hendrix's tone on Band of Gypsys. In my opinion that is the ultimate strat /marshall tone....if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Mike Landau and Scotty Henderson also get this very ballsy, very raw sound which I find very exhilarating and gripping. It's all about the signal chain and great vintage amps. My next amp may be the John Suhr OD 100 classic SE, which seems to replicate a well tuned late sixties early seventies Marshall Plexi. The Xotic RC booster helps slam the front end of the amps with a bit more punch. I also pick lightly and back off the tone control on the bridge pickup on the strat, back at least half way to warm up the tone and rid myself of some of the harshness of the highend.
Hi All

Remember me? Well, I'm still around. I've just been told that I've been booked to perform a set at the Basement, which is the premier music venue in Sydney.

For those Aussies out there who might be interested in turning up, it's on Monday 16 February, 2008. It's an acoustic night and I will be doing a 1/2 hour acoustic set of original material. There will be about another 6-7 artists on the bill.

The Basement started in the 1970s as predominantly a jazz venue and it has hosted some of the really great artists from Australia and overseas.

The beauty of the gig for me is twofold. It will give me the chance to hopefully draw a good crowd of people who won't travel to my normal gigs.

More importantly, I'm told that the venue has a great sound system and that I will be given a CD and video of my performance, which, unless I stuff it up, should be great from a PR point of view.

Anyway, the news hit me with the same effect as I imagine having sex with Elle McPherson might have on one. Not much point it happening unless you can tell someone about it. So I thought I'd share.

It would be great for any Aussies on the site who may be in Sydney on the night to turn up and say hello.

Cheers

Brian

I HAVE BEEN AROUND COUNTRY MUSIC SINCE I WAS BORN. MY FATHER WAS TILLMAN FRANKS, WHO MANAGED MANY BIG STARS INCLUDING JOHNNY HORTON AND DAVID HOUSTON. JOHNNY AND DAVID BOTH WERE BIG INFLUENCES IN MY LIFE. EVEN THOUGH I WAS ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD WHEN JOHNNY DIED, I HAVE ALWAYS FELT CLOSE TO HIM. HIS MUSIC WAS CLASSIC AND HAS TRULY STOOD THE TEST OF TIME.

I STARTED PLAYING THE GUITAR AND SINGING SERIOUSLY AROUND 20. I REGRET I DIDN’T START EARLIER. SOMETIMES I THINK DADDY WAS SCARED FOR ME TO GET INTO THE BUSINESS. HE HAD MANY TRYING TIMES AND IT WASN’T ALWAYS EASY (ESPECIALLY WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER) KEEPING BREAD ON THE TABLE. WHEN I WAS AROUND 17 I BEGAN TO PLAY A LOT OF HANK JR. AND WAYLON. THEIR MUSIC TO ME REALLY SOUNDED FRESH AND WAS A LOT OF FUN TO PLAY. I THINK THIS CAUSED ME TO GET MORE SERIOUS ABOUT PLAYING AND SINGING.

I HAVE BEEN PLAYING FOR A LONG TIME BUT HAVE NEVER GIVEN 100%. I DON’T THINK I EVER BELIEVED IN MYSELF ENOUGH TO TRY TO MAKE IT IN THE BUSINESS. IN THE LAST FEW YEARS THOUGH, I FEEL MY MUSIC HAS IMPROVED AND HAS BECOME MORE ORIGINAL. I TRY TO SING FROM THE HEART AND BELIEVE IN WHAT I’M SINGING AND COMMUNICATE WITH THE CROWD. I LIKE TO HAVE FUN ON THE STAGE. AFTER ALL, PLAYING MUSIC SHOULD BE FUN, NOT WORK.

WHEN I’M NOT PLAYING MUSIC, I HAVE A FULL TIME DAY JOB THAT PAYS THE BILLS. WHEN I’M NOT WORKING OR PLAYING MUSIC, I LOVE TO SPEND TIME OUTDOORS: FISHING, HUNTING, GOLF, ANYTHING OUTSIDE.

EVERYTHING CHANGES, INCLUDING COUNTRY MUSIC, BUT NOT ALL CHANGES ARE GOOD. THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR A 3 CHORD COUNTRY SONG SUNG FROM THE HEART. ASK WILLIE NELSON. I THINK HE’LL AGREE. I THINK GEORGE WILL AGREE TOO. (BOTH GEORGES)

NEW CD:

1. WHERE OLD GLORY FLIES

2. SAVE A COUNTRY SONG

3. KEEP ON LOVING YOU

4. WOULD YOU CARE

5. SHADOWS IN THE WIND

6. MORE THAN SILVER

7. LONG BLACK WALL
