A Tribute to Nelson Mandela

Dear Friends, in the years 1989 and 1990, two albums were released, one of which was the album, "Quasme" by Sonex Pvt. Ltd., Calcutta, India.

As one of the artists of this album, I was requested to sing this song in Hindi, "Tumne Sagar Ki Laheron Par", as a tribute to Nelson Mandela, which was an honor for me to sing.

The song was in honor of his contribution to end apartheid. Nelson Mandela never wavered in his devotion to democracy, equality and learning. Despite terrible provocation, he never answered racism with racism.

"I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." ~ Nelson Mandela

The meaning of this song, even though it is a special tribute to Nelson Mandela, a man I have the deepest respect for, is still relevant today, more so than ever before ~ promoting, encouraging and maintaining unity in diversity peace and harmony in the truest sense.
