Amelia, OH – April 30, 2011 – The only open-air fest dedicated to traditional true metal in the US will be held at Frontier Ranch in Kirkersville, OH on June 17-18, 2011.

Friday night is headlined by the North Carolina metal heroes, Widow , who will be releasing their fifth album this year, “Life’s Blood,” with direct support by northern Ohio’s own thrash metallers, Vindicator , who are working on their third album due out later this year.

Saturday night is headlined by US and European metal fest veterans Aska from Dallas, TX, who will be releasing their eagerly anticipated sixth album, with direct support by Cleveland’s own Shok Paris , who will be playing their first Columbus-area show in over 20 years as they finish recording “Decharge Electrique,” their first new album since 1989.

Also returning to the fest this year by popular demand are Sacred Dawn (Chicago, IL) , Lords of the Trident (Madison, WI) , V ӓ nlade (Kansas City, KS) , Age of Distrust (Chillicothe, OH) and internationally recognized doom metallers Dantesco from Puerto Rico.

Making their debut to our fest, and the first female-fronted power metal band to play Warriors of Metal Fest, is Benedictum featuring Veronica Freeman. Other artists appearing for the first time are A Tortured Soul (Milwaukee, WI) , Spellcaster (Portland, OR) , Deathalizer (New York City, NY) , Draekon (Indianapolis, IN) , Horrifier (Trenton, NJ) , Stone Magnum (Michigan City, IN) , and Argonaut (Fort Wayne, IN, with ex-Zephaniah members Justin Zych, Ian Bender, and Gary Wenglikowski).   Additionally, Split Heaven from Mexico, Machinage from Brazil, and Aura Azul from Puerto Rico, who were hand-picked by Iron Maiden to open their April 14th San Juan show, will all be making their debuts on US soil.

Warriors of Metal Fest IV Open Air is organized this year by Warriors of Metal Inc., a newly-formed non-profit organization dedicated to providing education , support and encouragement toward the advancement of traditional true metal music in America .   According to board member Lea Alaee, “The ultimate goal of this fest is to grow it into the American version of some of the best European true metal festivals out there.   Our event has already been compared favorably with Germany’s iconic Keep It True festival and Headbanger’s Open Air Festival, both of which are in their 14th years.   It’s just a matter of time and effort to reach out to all the metalheads to let them know that this is the summer metal party they absolutely cannot miss each year!”

'Reality' Doesn't Bite After All

By CrybKeeper, 2010-11-10

<p>Just got my advance copy of <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Woolgather">Woolgather</a> bands second CD, titled <strong>Programmes ll - The Reality Principle.</strong></p><p>Casey and the guys have went with a little different sound on some of the new songs. Don't let that worry you though; the songs simply have more energy, with a clear and recognizable <em>Woolgather </em>sound. It's immediately obvious, the guys have grown musically and spiritually, giving <em>Woolgather</em> a more mature and even more enjoyable sound. The new album will be available to the public on November 30, 2010, so save your dollars and euros <em>Woolgather</em> fans, because this one is essential, a must have CD in any progressive rock, music collection.</p><p><em>Programmes ll</em> contains 7 tracks in total, ranging from 3 minutes to 9 minutes in length. I will be reviewing just a few here, so as not to spoil the whole experience for everyone reading this. Want you to be pleasantly surprised, as I am sure you will be.</p><p><strong>The Kite</strong>, has a slightly faster rhythm than what we fans are used to on Programmes l, with hauntingly beautiful vocals, thoughtful lyrics and sensational keyboards. Uh-hm, these guys know how to arrange music, with cymbals at the correct spots and something I haven't heard from Woolgather before - accompanying, growling vox, but they have done a superb job with this, keeping it suttle and well placed, heard but not overpowering. Over all, I would rate <em>The Kite</em> a near perfect track, giving it a 9.6 of 10. This one is pre-released as a single. You can hear it in full on My Space, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/woolgatherband/music/songs/the-kite-76495290">at this link</a>.</p><p><strong>The King's Ransom</strong>, will take you back somewhat, to that signature <em>Woolgather</em> sound we all know and love, but with a slightly heavier rhythm guitar and some really cool backing vox, in my opinion. This track is another gem out of the jewelry box everyone. I will be playing this one until my hard drive melts! 9.3 of 10.</p><p><strong>Pre-Flight Candidacy</strong> is an intro to <em>The Kite</em> and an instrumental song on <em>Programmes ll</em> and it's a perfect mood for a perfect album. It leaves me wanting more and already waiting in anticipation for a Fourth CD from Woolgather. This starts with a nice intro, that may remind you ever so slightly, of <em>Ghost Riders In The Sky</em>, by <em>Marty Robbins</em>, covered later, by <em>Johnny Cash</em> and also <em>The Outlaws</em>. However, <em>Pre-Flight</em> smoothly morphs into something very new and unique, with some really clever instrumental work going on, with chimes, walking cymbals, prancing piano and a familair rhythm and bass. 9.1 of 10.</p><p>Over all album rating - 9 of 10. A must have CD!</p><p>Woolgather are:<br />Smooth Operator, Casey Tipton - lead vocals/guitar<br />Good Vibrations, Eric Stephens - Bass <br />The Diamond Cutter, Matthew Eads - Drums</p><p>Read more about Programmes l &amp; ll in <a href="http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&amp;friendId=112522113&amp;blogId=539905415">Woolgathers My Space Blog</a>.<br />Get yourself a nifty T-shirt from <a href="http://woolgatherband.com">Woolgathers official website</a>.</p>

<h1>"...Zeroking fits the scene, like rivets to sheet metal!"</h1><p class="subhead">25 Oct 2009, 17:03</p><div class="journalBody"><div class="bbcode">Just wanted to post an excerpt from a live concert review, 3 years back. <br /><br /><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Zeroking LIVE!</span> 80's rock/metal/Just Plain Kick-ass Metal, from Huntington, W.V.</strong><br /><br />"...Zeroking fits the scene, like rivets to sheet metal!<br /><br />Jalon and I arrived a bit early and found ourselves a seat with the guys from Further Lo band and the place was getting packed already. "So this is where all you, Ohio party animals hang out?!?!"<br /><br />First up was Zeroking, kicking off with one of our favorite songs from them, <strong>Celebrity</strong>. <br /><br />Lead vocalist Andy Haught, is very accomplished and proved he can dish out the same caliber of performance live, as on their CD. Wow! This band really understands pleasing the crowd!<br /><br /><strong>Drugs Will Keep Us Together</strong>, was most likely the crowd favorite song from them. This song speaks volumes about the social interaction of some narcotics and speaks more about the musical abilities of these four, West Virginia wild men.<br /><br />Shane Day is varacious and nimble on lead axe and drummer Chris Webb is a magnum force, sweat and guts drummer! When it comes to bass guitars, JP Boggs fits the perfect profile. For a band that sort of fell together, while performing in other projects, this foursome made a match from metal heaven and we can really dig them!<br /><br />The crowd was still getting larger, as more patrons arrived and found themselves a place to stand. All seats were taken by this time and it was still early in the evening.<br /><br />Next came the free Jagermeister shots-courtesy of Zeroking-delivered with a high powered squirt gun, direct from stage to mouth! <em>The parties on now friends!!</em><br /><br /><em>"Jalon is right up in that shizzle, getting his shots in. It is true, the digital age has changed how we get our information, feed our social needs and also find our entertainment. One big plus, is getting our music fix on, has become easier than ever before.

There is no doubt, the technology we have today has certainly changed how the music industry markets itself. The fans have also decided, the big labels have missed the boat, which has caused quite a large amount of music lovers, to cut out labels altogether and go straight to the musical source. Self publicity is getting easier all the time, which also allows quite a few wannabee arists to get sprinkled in the mix. That sprinkle, may be the extra added appeal however, as music fans search through the dusty underground, looking for the hidden golden nuggets of sound, amongst the masses of indie talents.

This changes the way we view our music news as well. Many fans are searching for new and promising musical artists that have that magic sound and are independent of major labels, deciding to produce and market themselves direct to their fan base. It somehow feels as if, we the fans are a bigger and more important part of our favorite musicians rise to self made fame. We feel closer to our favorite bands and can share in the success they garner.

So, who are these artists on the verge of being famous in music today and doing it all on their own?

How about Ellsbeth -a female fronted Goth Metal band from Los Angeles, CA., with near 6,000,000 track plays and voted number one Goth Metal band on all of My Space? Ellsbeth have managed to hold this title for nearly half a year and garnered quite a large amount of FM radio plays in California, as well as taking national college radio stations by storm.

Maybe it's Shaolin Temple of Boom -the brain child of David Alvarez and one of the largest self promoted unsigned bands on the internet? StoB are the latest winners of the Wonka Candies Battle of the Bands and took the honors by a landslide of fan based votes. Stob is also endorsed by ENGL amps and sound equipment and featured in their latest advertisements in several major music mags.

Then we have bands, who are just getting started with this self publicity measure and showing signs of making it big on the unsigned scene in like manner. One good example would be Woolgather , a Progressive rock band from Austin, Texas, who recently hit the top 20 charts at Metal Deli Radio in Los Angeles, CA., at number 14, with their track Ashes And Echoes , off of their debut CD, Programmes - Volume 1 - The Pleasure Principle .

These are three great examples of a growing and thriving underground scene, that has been in place for quite a few decades, but may be gradually taking the front position, as the technology continues to make self promotion and publicity, easier to obtain with every new year.

You can find out more about these artists at the links:

So what does everyone else think? Can anyone add some really great bands to this topic?

Please feel free to make some suggestions. I for one, am always searching for my own golden nuggets of sound, so please point me to some more and share the wealth?

A cross, between Saigon Kick and gothic metal, with a dash of undescribable, makes Ellsbeth a unique force to be reckoned with.

After many chat sessions with Ellsbeth and their very dedicated, street team and fans, It's easy to say, without a doubt, everyone is passionately dedicated to the musical cause. The fans back their favorite band with unwavering loyalty and Ellsbeth brings a live performance that brings them back for more. Nearly a dozen radio stations began airing Ellsbeths songs Eden and Defy, weeks before the CD's official release date. FM station managers are so impressed, they were releasing un-mastered tracks, direct for airplay!

Some of the most notiable tracks include, My Release-a dark and driven metal tune of epic preportions, Breathe-a somber operatic build-up, to an anthemic vocal harmony and of course, Defy-without a doubt, this could be a huge hit. Defy-is a perfect combination of metal symphony, with a mantra like chorus, that holds your attention. The Defy intro has a Saigon Kick feel- for those who remember that bands unique brand of music.

Ellsbeth are currently planning a United States tour,  over the next three months, to promote Well Dressed Killing Machine. The Album can be streamed through Ellbeths My Space player- for those who want to sample the music. http://www.myspace.com/ellsbethmusic

You immediately know in your soul, this is the destiny and direction, that music will take you next. That's a good first impression for Shaolin Temple Of Boom. A fast rising and passion driven, group of artists from Los Angeles California.</p><p>&nbsp;</p></div></div></div></div></td></tr></table>

<p>They&nbsp;are paving new ground with experimental material, but this is the grand experiment, that has become a grand success in music. That is why the title is, "Breathing New Life Into Music", because it just couldn't be said better than that. Their music covers a wide range from industrial synth, to somber and dark metal.</p><p>The Artistic power driving this steam roller, is the creative energy of David Alvarez, the wearer of many robes. Being the composer, vocalist, engineer, producer, guitarist and keys, David does it all and then some. When the time came to pass some of these details into capable hands, Dave chose artists of an equal caliber to himself. This is when Borja Rodriguez on Guitar, June Kato on Bass and Matt Lucich on Drums, joined the project. High caliber indeed. These fellows have sponsors and endorsements that count, by those who know what great music should sound like. Among them are, the Gap clothing, ENGL amplifiers and Sabian Cymbals, for starters.</p><p>I've been a silent and watchful fan of SToB for about 2 years now and I can safely say, new material never seems to stop coming from this group and it's always of epic proportions. There is never a mediocre song in the bunch. It's all great! SToB make you want the music. The attention to details and nuances in the musical expression will give you a sensation in sound that leaves you wanting more. Mood Metallic Symph, wouldn't be too far from the general description.</p><p>More exciting news, another new track is due for release in the coming weeks. Here is a quote from David, at SToB's Official Website:</p><p>" The new song by Shaolin Temple of BooM is coming along nicely, it will feature the piano as the main instrument and is an extremely experimental song which is probably the darkest thing I have ever written....I am very happy to announce that Chris Vrenna (Formerly of NIN, Marilyn Manson, and now in Tweaker and Waxploitation Records which is the label of Gnarls Barkley and Dangerdoom) will be mixing this track down."</p><p>If you want to know more about the Shaolin Temple Of Boom and would like to download there FREE music from TrueAnthem Music, you can visit these three sites for all the goodies:</p><p><a href="http://www.shaolintempleofboom.com/"><span style="color: #000000;">http://www.shaolintempleofboom.com</span></a><br /><a href="http://www.myspace.com/shaolintempleofboom"><span style="color: #000000;">http://www.myspace.com/shaolintempleofboom</span></a><br /><a href="http://www.trueanthem.com/Home"><span style="color: #000000;">http://www.trueanthem.com/Home</span></a></p><p>CHEERz from,</p><p>The Cryb Team</p>
