<p>Very sad to hear the news about Steve Jobs today. As someone who has worked in IT for many years, you have to admire his genius. I was telling my wife tonight that they always have sad news about Hollywood legends passing away and I just can't hold them in the same light as a Steve Jobs or a John Lennon. These guys were creators and innovators of something truly unique. An actor reads some lines on a page and is considered remarkable for a portayal of some character.&nbsp;</p><p>Steve Jobs pretty much saved the music industry at a time when Napster was illegally giving away music away. He legitimized downloads albeit at a hefty price to musicians/record companies. Not to mention what he did with Pixar Animation. Pixar put out amazing movies and when he sold it to Disney, he became their largest shareholder. So in the end, I guess you have to say well done Steve. You created a revolution with your ideas and turned many of us into something different than we probably would have been without you.&nbsp;</p><p>Dazed</p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Congratulations to our October Artist of the Month - Lodato!</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">From His Bio:</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">lodato (Rich Lodato) started out in NJ (Bergen County) at 16 playing guitar, writing songs and doing gigs in the early 1970's. At 19 he moved to San Francisco Ca. teamed up with photographer Jeff Clark who's art Gallery (Mind Scapes) hosted independant musical slide shows. With a few financial successes along the way, the musical slide shows ended abruptly when Jeff died. Rich moved back to the east coast Pa. where he still resides as a fine arts painter and musician.</span></p>

Does anyone care? I was never much of an REM fan and in all honesty I thought the lead singer killed himself years ago. Oh wait that was INXS. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">So is anyone crying themselves to sleep over this? </span></p>

Just a quick reminder about the upcoming Mixposure Halloween Tunes! We are trying to give everyone ample time so they can collaborate with other artists. If you have never participated in one of these, here is how it works. 

• The song should be based around the Halloween Theme
• Any Genre is Welcome - You can make it scary, comical or whatever you like!
• On October First, we will add a specific Genre for everyone to use so we can track the songs
• Vocals are not required but they obviously help sell the theme
• Please post any questions you have!

<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Congratulations to Mixposure's September Artist of the Month <a href="http://www2.mixposure.com/King_Cake/">King Cake</a>!</span></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">The King Cake Story as told by Frog Boy: <br /> I started hanging out in rest stop bathrooms and met up with Joe while selling cigarette butts to desperate smokers. In 1979 this was not a good business to be in but, I was feeling kind of addled at that point in my life as I had been abducted by aliens and taken aboard a UFO for an unspecified amount of time during the previous October... Playing music together just seemed to be the logical thing to do. <br /> At some point later on we met up with Turk when we found ourselves suddenly under a bridge on an abandoned stretch of railroad tracks. He claims to be an alien and I'm inclined to believe him, though not totally convinced.... <br /> The three of us walked a few miles and pretty soon we came to a refrigerator box city where we met up with Todd who had played with Moon Mullican back in the '40s. Joe, Turk and I pooled our 46 cents and were able to get a box for the night. It turns out that many of the people in this cardboard community had come from missing or crashed airline flights. Black helicopters would occaisionally drop supplies.... but that is another story.<br /> Three days later finally made it out of the woods to the main road. Frank picked us up hitchhiking, or so we thought. Actually he had gotten out of the his seat while driving to change an 8-track tape in the deck that was under the back seat. The van had driven off onto the shoulder and come to a stop. By the time he realized&nbsp; what had happened we had all piled in.&nbsp; Grateful to have help changing tapes he agreed to give us a ride. About a hundred miles later we coasted into the parking lot of a seedy road house in east Texas on fumes and realized that we were broke with no money for gas&nbsp; or food. The owner desperate for a band because the band he had booked had cancelled hired us on the spot. And the rest is history..<strong><br /></strong></span></p>

<p>Never go out of tune again!
