She came right up my street
And hey I - I’ve been around a while but
She knocked me clean off my feet
I said what’s your name?
She whispered call me Martina
And nothing stayed the same
She was bright she was bold
We blew hot and we blew cold
But we rooted for each other
And the days turned to years
Through the laughter and the tears
She was my soulmate and my lover
And then she gave it to somebody else
She said she had to be herself
She gave it to somebody else
And I don’t mind, I don’t mind
I lost her picture when I was
Seeing Carlotta from Rome
Carlotta took me home
And she was richer so we were
Always together never spent the night alone
She could read from my mind
Thought our stars must be aligned
She was all that I’d prayed for
She was smart in the head
Like Vesuvius in bed
Hot as fire on the dance floor
And then she gave it to somebody else
You know she said she had to be herself
Yeah she gave it to somebody else
But I don’t mind, I don’t mind
Cause when you give it to somebody new
There ain’t no-one to show me what to do
I get the time to take a new direction too
It’s all a game that we play
To throw our freedom away
So today I stare at myself and I know
I’m deeper than all I can show to somebody
Harder to tame than before
And when they walk out that door
Then you give it to somebody else
Cause you know you got to be yourself
Yeah you give it to somebody else
And I don’t mind, I don’t mind
Yeah yeah you give it to somebody else
Cause you know you got to be yourself
Yeah you give it to somebody else
And I don’t mind, I don’t mind

I agree with what @farrell-jackson expressed previously about this song ~ I love the Reggae sound ~ a high spirited song ....loving the lyrics

A real peppy song with a bit of Reggae style to it. I like the lyric about how relationships can move on without any hearts breaking. Great vocals and melody!
Thanks Farrell! Had a lot of fun doing it - seem to be getting back into it now after such a long break.
All the very best, my friend!
