Song Lyrics
When In Rome(V-1) Sittin here in Rome Missed my scheduled trainFeelin' all abandonedLonging for home There's not another'til four more hoursSo here I sitOn...
(V-1) Sittin here in Rome Missed my scheduled train Feelin' all abandoned Longing for home
There's not another 'til four more hours So here I sit On my suitcase tower
(Chr) So I.... Guess if I wasn't here I'd be somewhere But that's..... Neither here nor there 'Cause I'm going no where
So I'm...Waitin' on the next train To take me down the tracks To pull.....Me away from the pain That's turnin' my heart..... black...........
(Inst. solo)
(V-2) People in a hurry Almost got robbed But for a watchfull eye I thanked him kindly
A friendly pigeon Lookin' to share my bread As the other lost souls Check their schedules
(Chr) So I.... Guess if I wasn't here I'd be somewhere But that's..... Neither here nor there 'Cause I'm going no where
So I'm...Waitin' on the next train To take me down the tracks To pull.....Me away from the pain That's turnin' my heart black...........
( Inst. solo)
(brdg/coda) I don't know if this trip (F#m, B7, D, A) Will turn out good or bad It's the steps I to take To erase the memory of her

My first solo song of 2016! A Southern Rocker with some slight turns after the first chorus and at the outro.
Farrell Jackson - songwriter, all vocals and instruments. I'm debuting my 2007 G&L Stratocaster, on the guitar solos.
DrC - drums programming.
The lyric is based on a semi truth. I was in Rome and missed the train and almost got pick pocketed but I was with my wife. I just drew upon the feelings of that moment for these lyric....that's what we do as songwriters, right? Lol.
lodato:
I enjoyed this a lot. It has a lonely feeling but not in a downer way. Anyone can relate with this jewel. Spot on production as well Farrell.
Thanks Rich !

Farrell, this is lovely. Smart, a little melancholy, and filled with soul.
Thanks for listening and commenting Jim!

Thanks again Gary! I wasn't sure what genre it would turn out to be but once I put in the Strat solo it became a solid Southern Rocker.

I keep coming back to this one. It's THAT good! Really love the southern rock feel on this. I've requested it at a couple chat shows too.

Heard this one again on Bill's show tonight and I love everything about it! Cool, cool tune with awesome harmonies and very memorable chorus!

This also has a big time southern rock feel to it. This is definitely one of my favorites of yours!

Great harmonies and organ in the intro. The tempo pickup was totally unexpected but a cool change then you brought it back down at the end for the outro. I lIke the way that came out!

Thanks David! I've got a four part harmony happening in the chorus section. I love it when the lead melody leaves room to fit all the harmonies in.

Great story song.... You took that experience and made it something more... extremely fine songwriting! (the harmonies in the chorus are great as well).

I've had fun with this music stuff most of my life and still do. I gigged in a band for 35 years but now I'm just a home studio hack. Made some bucks from gigging but I guess the real payout is the numerous stories and memories from the road.
For a while I ran a small project studio at my place for soloists, duos, and the occasional full band. I gained a lot of recording experience doing that. It was definitely an experience. These days it's just me having fun in the studio. I try this and that with songwriting and recording. Once in a while it works. If I come up with something decent, which I think sounds ok, I'll post it up.
You can find my music on most of the popular sites ie. Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music etc. Thanks for visiting and if you have the time, hit the play button to hear a song or two.
Love the vocals in this-and pretty much everything else-some great guitar sounds and very tight harmonies
Thanks for the good comments Al @firecircle !
