This is my attempt at creating some Hawaiian Slack Key style of playing. I used my Takamine acoustic/electric direct to the recorder. I then physically doubled it and panned one track left and the other right. Just one acoustic guitar played twice. Then I came back and added the slide and slide harmonies to the second half of the song.

Hey Farrell - I never caught this track in the rush of the years. In your details , it's a Takamine guitar. I've never held one, but heard raving reviews. i was listening in your peice here closely to the intonation of your guitar. and seriously it sounds absolutely flawless. Perfection in intonation, displayed by excellent guitar player ability. Geesh, I've never used an E string tuning so lo. sounds great, that's below a D . I've slearned something new today from ya
@shane Thanks for the very thoughtful words! The tuning is some sort of C. The low E string is tuned down to C. You need some heavy strings to hold the intonation of such a slack tuning.

Glad you steered me toward this! The guitars sound great, nice performances and good production. I've always admired alternative tunings but never indulged in them much, I'm content to listen. Well done!

@farrell-jackson so pretty ~ heard this on Mix radio the other night & mentioned it reminds me of the Hawaiian slack key music here ~ to which you wrote...yes, indeed it is ~ so mellow & soothing
Thanks Moe ! My neighbor went to Hawaii and brought me a CD with all styles of slack key playing. I listen a few times and decided I could do that. I didn't copy any songs, I just tried to capture the slack key open tuning style. Thanks!

Thanks so much Toni! Sometimes I wonder where these creations come from myself, lol. I'm so glad you are enjoying it and Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!
Oh my Farrell Jackson! This is such a fine nuanced tune. I love the melody more than I can say so I will just tell you I am sitting here at my 4:30am looping this now that I have downloaded it for my show. And that slide work....awesome. Such a perk for us DJ's, no one says we cannot listen for personal enjoyment right?
Merry Christmas Farrell to you and yours, thank you for your support of BRnB's always. ~ Toni
Thanks Gary! This is the same tuning that Jimmy Page used for Led Zep's Black Mountain Side. Originally I had vocals and lyric for this but I decided to do the same melody and harmonies with the slide instead.....so it became an instrumental.

Awesome man! This has a big time Jimmy Page feel to it and the slide coming in is a sweet little surprise!
Just some songs that I've written over the years and to date. Plus some collaboration songs as well.

I've had fun with this music stuff most of my life and still do. I gigged in a band for 35 years but now I'm just a home studio hack. Made some bucks from gigging but I guess the real payout is the numerous stories and memories from the road.
For a while I ran a small project studio at my place for soloists, duos, and the occasional full band. I gained a lot of recording experience doing that. It was definitely an experience. These days it's just me having fun in the studio. I try this and that with songwriting and recording. Once in a while it works. If I come up with something decent, which I think sounds ok, I'll post it up.
You can find my music on most of the popular sites ie. Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music etc. Thanks for visiting and if you have the time, hit the play button to hear a song or two.
