"Last Train to Clarksville" is a song by American pop rock band the Monkees. It was released as the band's debut single on August 16, 1966. The song was written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart. I used my Ernie Ball OLP guitar for all the guitar parts, into a Crate V5 valve amp, mic'ed with a vintage dynamic AKG 1000E mic. The pedal chain is an Akai analog compressor> MXR Prime distortion> ISP Decimator II noise reduction. The bass is a Squire Modified Jazz into an RNC compressor and then direct to the board. The straight-forward drums are from a Zoom MR3 drum machine. My goal was to mimic all the vocal parts on guitar, but I had some fun on the outro and cut loose a bit. I always thought of this as a simple bubble gum song, but I have a newfound appreciation for it after working out the structure, individual parts and recording it. Mastered by LANDR. It was a lot of fun recording it.

Just some songs that I've written over the years and to date. Plus some collaboration songs as well.

I've had fun with this music stuff most of my life and still do. I gigged in a band for 35 years but now I'm just a home studio hack. Made some bucks from gigging but I guess the real payout is the numerous stories and memories from the road.
For a while I ran a small project studio at my place for soloists, duos, and the occasional full band. I gained a lot of recording experience doing that. It was definitely an experience. These days it's just me having fun in the studio. I try this and that with songwriting and recording. Once in a while it works. If I come up with something decent, which I think sounds ok, I'll post it up.
You can find my music on most of the popular sites ie. Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music etc. Thanks for visiting and if you have the time, hit the play button to hear a song or two.
well...that was fun ride to Jacksonville!
All aboard...lol. Thanks Gary!
