Category: Livin' Dangerously ( Jeremy Acker Dobro)

A little humour. Americana/ Alt. Country Rock song about someone that is tired of doing everything that is expected of him. So he's going to start jaywalking, eating pork rhinds, and livin' dangerously. Jeremy Acker contributed the dobro track and I do the rest. Enjoy!

Farrell

Farrell Jackson - songwriter, all instruments and vocals.

Frank Northcutt - Drums.

A song that I've had on the shelf for some time. It needed additional tracks to finish it off for my Wood, Wires, and Wonder CD#3. Thanks to the graciousness of Frank Northcutt and his drumming, it now has drums. I'm also using my new Fender Squire Jazz Bass on this song. This is an Americana Ballad of sorts.

I hope you like my new but sad song!

Farrell Jackson

Farrell Jackson - songwriter, all vocals, bass, and guitars.

Alex Jiminez - Congas

Kurt Huhn - drums

This was my first attempt at writing a country rock/crossover song. I wrote and recorded this song in 1998 but haven't posted it at Mixposure because there hasn't been much of an audience for this style of music here. That is until now due to kooder's new show called Twang Is The Thang. If you haven't checked the show out yet you should. It's a different listening experience from the normal...that is if you like a little twang in your ears.....but the music is also diverse.

I hope you enjoy my True Blue Cowboy!

Farrell Jackson

It Was A Trip.

This is a live version that I performed unplugged at a benefit concert to help aid the victims of the Katrina Hurricane that devastated New Orleans a few years ago. Just me, my harmonica, and acoustic guitar. I had lost this version in a computer crash but thankfully Mike Kohlgraf had it in his MP3 files. I asked and he sent it to me. Thanks Mike K!

I hadn't heard it in a long while so I thought I would post it up for those that like live recordings. I also have the studio version on my page.

Here's a little history on the songs origin: I wrote and recorded the song around 2000 but I had carried this lyrical thought since 1969. The true story, in short, is about a rock concert I attended in 1969. A kid I knew from school was shot and killed about 20 yards in front of me. He was just in the wrong spot at the wrong time. He was caught in the crossfire of rival motorcycle gangs and took a fatal shot to the head. It was supposed to be a fun day but it turned very dark quickly. So I did what story telling songwriters do, I captured that dark day in a song about the event.

Farrell Jackson

( THE JMZ BAND - Jackson, Mercer, and Zakel.....plus friends)

Holy crap! It just hit me that Spinning Round was written and recorded over 12 years ago....when I was in my 40's something...chit man time does fly when you're having fun! This was our most requested original song off the list and our fans actually spun around on the dance floor as they sang along during the chorus, LOL! Those were the days my friend.......

http://www2.mixposure.com/index.php?t=mixposure_song_player&song_id=18762&band_id=991

Farrell Jackson - Acoustic guitar, vocals, mixing, production, and songwriter.

Dave Mercer - Bass and backing vocal.

Steve Zakel - Electric guitar and backing vocal.

Kurt Huhn - Drums.

Alex Jiminez - Congas and timbales.

The lyric is about getting caught in a downward spiriling relationship and not knowing how to get out of the loop.

Enjoy!

Farrell Jackson

Another avenue for musical creations. Two of my songs, It Was A Trip and Alerro. were selected as the intro and outro for an Audio Book thriller series called Dead Hunt by Kenn Crawford. The audio book has been getting a lot of play which means each time a chapter is heard, the listener also hears my songs and I'm credited and linked as the songwriter of them. Just another avenue for musical creations and exposure.

Below is a promo and link to Kenn's Audio Book, Dead Hunt. If you take a listen you'll hear my songs, It Was A Trip as the intro and Alerro as the outro.

Cheers!

Farrell Jackson

===========================================================

Off the coast of Nova Scotia on a remote island, a lonely scientist, a powerful computer, a simple mistake. Unleashes a new threat, somewhere in the hills of Margaree.

“Dead Hunt” is Kenn Crawford’s chilling tale of a desperate father’s undying love, a daughter frozen in time, and the small group of teens trapped in the aftermath.

“Everyone makes mistakes. Some are small, some are bigger. My father’s mistake, born of an innocent heart and fueled by sadness, was the greatest mistake. Some thought the death of his little girls drove him to the point of insanity; some thought he was trying to be God. But, this is not how it happened. The truth is, he wanted to save me. To give me life. And, in doing so, everyone was doomed.” ~Robin

Music by Farrell Jackson, Tom Storms, Gregory Cain & Kenn Crawford

http://deadhunt.kenncrawford.com/

Another Year....a birthday song to myself, how vain, lol!

I wrote this song a few years ago on a "feelin' down" week as my birthday, Jan. 13th, approached. The day came and went and life went on but I felt better for the effort

Each year since then I've added something new, remixed, and reposted. My plan is to keep doing this until I run out of ideas or birthdays, which ever comes first, lol.

This years track additions are drums and percussions contributed by Buddrumming. Bud also did the picture/ad design for the song. Bud is a great drummer and his graphic designs are out of sight! Thanks Bud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you enjoy all the grit along with the spirit of Another Year.

Farrell Jackson

Restless Mind

Farrell Jackson - vocals - guitars - instruments
Buddrumming - drums - percussion

“Restless Mind” written by Farrell Jackson
Produced, engineered and mixed by: Farrell Jackson
Jaxonville Studio 2009 (California, U.S.A.)

Bud created the awesome ad picture!

Buddrumming and I have been wanting to collab on a song for a while now. I happened to have an unfinished mellow acoustic song called restless Mind that needed some drums or percussions. I asked Bud if he could do anything with this song in the drummimg area and what he came back with was excellent! He even threw in some percussions as icing on the cake. Thanks Bud!

About the lyric: It's about those sleepless nights when one's mind just will not shut down.....those Restless Mind nights....we've all had them...so I wrote about it.

Farrell and Bud

Distant Eyes is a song I wrote and recorded in 2003. It was one of those rare moments where I came up with the song idea, wrote the lyric, recorded and mixed it all in one setting. This is the only song that has ever happened so quickly for me.

The lyric is about a lady that is looking for some fulfillment in her life. The many failed relationships has her looking for answers from the Almighty as she struggles with the right questions to ask.

It was fun to set the acoustic guitar aside for this song and power up the tube amps!

I hope you enjoy it!

Farrell Jackson

It's bad luck! This is the first real song I ever wrote. As you can tell by the lyric it was written in the rebelious, flowery, wild sixties. It's a short simple song that took 35 years to resurrect and get recorded, thanks to the digital recording age. I thought about updating the lyric to be more politically correct but for some reason I just couldn't do it. To me it would be like changing the street names of Haight/Ashbury in S.F. Albiet my song isn't near as historical but it comes from the same era and the sixties mind set. He he he...I'm showing my age and roots!

I hope you enjoy it, dig the spirit in which it was written, and maybe it will bring back some memories or flashbacks for you flower children out there.

Farrell Jackson
