What can I say that hasn't already been said, this is wonderful! The lyrics really impressed me as well as the singing. The production has a nice soft feel to it, it's a comforting feel. Nice arrangement, it's all good!!

Which is to say, highly elastic with wonderful dynamics and pitch control. Desperate is excellent. Musically/lyrically and the vocals really shine. Reminds me of Spooky Tooth meets Bryan Adams. Drums, guitar work excel and I think the vocals are the real carrier here as they are so well done. Great collab guys.

Wonderful story telling, great vocals - very strong track. I really like the dynamics vocal, gives it a nice emotional accent to the story line. Very polished production, experience pays nice dividends when you have two people who really understand recording collaborating. Every touch is purposeful and set just right in the mix.

Dazed and Bri-an, I like this one cause the emotional vocals are right there in front hangin out on your sleeves so to speak... fitting for a desparate man.... nice opening acoustic amd then the drivng chords, and support drums/bass/keys ... plus the chorus has the needed energy dudes! I don't like to do plug my own tunes when I am commenting, but this song is similar to my tune "Hand it Over" in such a cool way - my tune tells the story from the view of the very first time, and this one tells it later down the line. Desperate Man is a really great track. I like the backward tracking guitar intro and outro. The strings are used very tastefully and I love the way the chorus refrain ends on a major chord. The lyrics are well written, very introspective and sang with expression. This has all the elements of an epic rock anthem. We're all desperate men!

Better late than never...this song is a great one on several different levels. Certainly just the music is quite compelling all on it's own. The mixture of instruments and tones is perfect. The playing all around is great. But then add in the vocals and wow...one terrific layer on top of the first! Dazed...superb vocal delivery, great vox and lyrics. Brian also did wonderfully in this and I hear his influence particulary in the string melody.
This is for sure a stand-out song man!!....thanks for the DL. ~Blake

What a great intro to this, the acoustic and the way the vocals come in, very cool. I like the way it builds to the rock hits and power sound. The changes are really nice hooks and draw you into the track. I'm diggin the keyboard add in the second movement, nice touch. Brians a great drummer and really adds to the live feel of this. Oh ya, nice outro..well played guys, Enjoyed!!!

Very professional sounding song! There is however a bit of sidechaining going on where the guitar and drums overlap each other in sound - not sure if you intended that to happen or not..

I took the time to listen to the demo version first before writing this review and I have to say this version has really progressed from the demo. The guitar fits in tight with the vox and drums. Vox are great and writing is superb!

From memory, in my review of the earlier version I mentioned some slight clashing between the drums and the electric Rhythm guitar which I thought were distracting for the clear brilliance of the song itself. Bri-an's drums are just right to my ears. The guitar and drums are now perfectly in synch and the use of the strings operates to turn the spotlight onto that sensation chorus section. Wow, this song is now shining bright. Great piece of work. Love it.

Lots of cool progressions as it rocks along. That riff is a great hook, stand up and get the air guitars happenin, has that get up feel to it. Nice jam flow to it also, could be some pyrotechnics added, but stands on its own as a song with a great drive.

Nice instrumental. The drums are pushing some of the fills a little, but then again, that's whats keeping the song moving along. Excellent sound ... you always know how to get the best out of a mix.

Hey Dazed this is a super track and the improved production on the instrumental part is great... but I do believe your vocal performance deserves to be a bit more upfront and not as washed by the reverb, you're a bit to low for my taste compared to the instrumental. Carol Sue's "Baby, Baby", Bilbozo's "Mexican Machine", Q Harper's "Only God Loves You More", Paul Douglas Sanner's "Long Gone", Miguel Wilder's "Wishin", and recently TexCus "Cry Girl". Vocals ... spot on, drums are perfect, guitar is stunning, organ sounds great, and the bass just grounds the whole thing. Oh yeah, I don't usually catch the lyrics the first time around, but these are so clear they just drew me in. BRAVO BRAVO! I love it.

But you know,the funny thing is,that although we call it floydian,it really isn't.
It just something the brain does to try and lable and store for reference points.
In fact,stepping back,dropping those kind of easy tags,it becomes a thing unto itself.
And,if we cannot live without the "Sounds like",then I think Floyd is no bad choice to sound like...
What we have actualy is a very beautifuly played and crafted epic song.
The musicanship is on the money.
No aspect of it feeling either weak or overdone.
Vocals were really good in this one guys,but that is not to say anything was lesser,just as the main focus for the music,they did it fo me.
A MOST enjoyable listen...

"Am I listening to an edited version of a much larger song"
because every musical instinct I have tells me that the song was just about to go skywards with lead when it went nito fade out.

Todd-- your vocal is precious. There is something very,,, true about your singing. My brain fully accepts your voice,, in contrast to various male vox i have heard on other OMD's, where the situation is,, the singer is good,, he has a good voice also,, but somehow,, it doesn't set with my mind. it sounds somehow,, pretentious or ,, wannabe.
This has never been the case with Dazed's vox. To my mind your singing always comes straight across as ,, The Real Deal.
The music here is liquid and fine. - Also made me file like Pink Floyd re-born.

Very nice !! This is one of the best you guys have.
My compliment to the vocals and writers. Im glad to see more players in the floydish vein. We really tend to enjoy that aspect as well.

Wondrously crafted! You have managed to gather a dazzling array of fine artists here, and you also manage to continue to produce fine songs yourself, songs like "The Other Side." Tastey intro reminds me of Pink Floyd, then moves right into a delightful rock ballad form with fine vocals (nice effects too), Of course if "I" were mixing this, I'd have that organ brought up front a little more - but then I always say that! Perfect mix, really!
