Mixposure Holiday Songs

By Admin, 2011-11-25

As a reminder, that time is on us again for Mixposure's Annual Holiday Song Submissions. If you are new to the site, here is a little information on it!

Every year Mixposure does several "site songs" like the Same Song Title Madness, Same Lyric Challenge, Accoustic/Electric Songs, Halloween Tunes and now the Holiday Songs. How this works is everyone who would like to participate needs to create a song with the Holiday Season in mind. In can be serious, comical and any genre you like. This is also a great time to collaborate with other Mixposure Artists.

Basically these are great, and fun, song writing exercises! We will be creating a new Song Genre in a couple of days so please hold off uploading anything until we have that in place.

Have fun with this!

Did You Know - Blog Messages!!

By Admin, 2009-04-25

In this Episode of "Did You Know?" we will discuss Blog Messages!! After seeing some of the messages I thought we should visit this area.

Links - I see a lot of links in blogs that are not clickable links. The easiest way to make a link clickable in the blogs is to type the name of the link in the editor window, highlight it and you will notice that the two icons next to the anchor in the tool bar have become active. Click the little chain link icon and then past the url in. Your highlighted text is now a link!

Pictures - If you have the url for a picture like www.mixposure.com/picture.jpg you can place the cursor in the editor and click the picture icon next to the smilie face. Paste the link in and you are all set. From here, you can also resize the image if it is too large!!

YouTube and other Videos - I see this all of the time. People trying to add youtube clips or other video embed codes and just can't get it to work. For youtube there are two options. The first being to click the youtube icon and pasting the video id. This is the alpha-numeric code that looks like xvg4ye7j.

The other is using the full embed code. For this type of code, click the HTML box on the top left of the toolbar. This will open a new window. Paste the full embed code in here and click update. Do not be surprised if you do not see the video in the editor. Submit your message and you will see the video in the blog!

I hope this helps!

Dazed

WTF!

These lists have been around forever but I found this one particularily amusing. Why you ask? Because this list made absolutely no sense to me.

I am a Beatle's fan to a point but I would never place any member in a "Greatest Guitar List" because I can find no viable argument to justify them being in the list. Keith Richard's was another one. Yes he should be in the list but at number 4?

Rolling Stone used what I thought would be a good list of people to determine the list but it seems many went with their idols vs actually ability. How else do you explain not seeing Joe Satriani, Eric Morse or Eric Johnson in the list. I mean seriously, let's put it into perspective. If I told you I could get you guitar lessons from anyone on the list, would you choose George Harrison (yes I know he is dead) who ranked 11th or Eric Johnson? How about Prince or Satriani?

George was a fine musician but if this category is Great Guitarists should he make the list? Let's face it, the Beatles farmed out the guitar solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps to Eric Clapton. George was never known for smoking solos or amazing ability. Lennon was number 55 on the list yet Alex Lifeson of Rush was in the 90's somewhere.

This could be arguably the worst list ever compiled! Some of these people I think should be on the list but maybe further down. Prince at number 33 above so many great guitarists like Randy Rhoads?

What do you think?

Top 100 Guitarists of All Time 2011 :
1.Jimi Hendrix
2.Eric Clapton
3.Jimmy Page
4.Keith Richards
5.Jeff Beck
6.B.B. Down Time

By Admin, 2010-02-26

Our apologies for the downtime today. Our host is still working on resolving the issue so you may still experience some difficulties. Ever notice this stuff always happens when you have set the day aside for doing some code changes??

We decided to pull the original Mixposure Banner in an order to streamline the site a bit. The original banner was awesome but it was a bit large and caused some slow load times. I am making signups a lot easier and less confusing. Overall the layout will be the same in most areas. The goal is to just make it a little easier to understand and navigate.

Again our apologies for the down time today!

Dazed

Mixposure Radio Downloads!

By Admin, 2011-11-17

Hey Everyone!

Pretty soon I will be sending out a notification about setting a DJ Friendly Song Download option. What this means is that when you upload a song, or any current song you have uploaded, there will be a section on the song upload form for, "Allow DJ Download". You will need to set it to Yes or No. This is really for artist who are setting the songs for Stream Only or currently have the song For Sale. As an Artist, you will be able to tell us whether you want our DJ's to be able to Download it and play it on Mix Radio. ONLY THE DJ'S will have access to the download link. Everyone else will see the normal play button and buy button.

Really this is no different than how the radio stations work today. Artist want airplay to promote their songs and get it heard by as many people as they can. Our goal was to give artists the option of how they wanted us to promote their music.

Thanks everyone for their continued support of Mixposure. We can't thank you enough for being here!

Todd
