Song Lyrics
What You Want Me To Be
Lord sometimes I drift down a road, blown by the winds of this world. I stop and you’re not there, I turn around and you’re not...
Lord sometimes I drift down a road, blown by the winds of this world. I stop and you’re not there, I turn around and you’re not there. Lord sometimes I get lost, in a forest of earthly concerns. I forget who you are, I forget who we are.
Lord don’t leave me alone. I simply forgot what I learn when you make yourself known in my heart. Lord bring me back home, and help me seek what you want, and want what you want in me. What you want me to be.
If I flew to the sunrise, or westward across the sea, your hand would still be there, your right hand would still be holding me. If I asked darkness to cover me, light to be night all around, that darkness would not be dark to you. Night would be light as day.
Help me to seek what you want, and to want what you seek in me. What you want me to be.

"a forest of earthly concerns"
How very very true.
This feels more like a stage piece.
From a stage musical.
I have heard a great great deal worse proclaimed as genius writing.
I was a young man when taken to Jesus Christ Superstar up in London.
Living in the rural areas,it was quite some occasion and left it's mark.
I don't really feel qualified to comment on the religious aspects.
But it seems to me that everyone wants a purpose to life, for there to be some all encompassing reason for being.
Perhaps such a song erxpresses such a feeling?
Strange little coda on the end david....
Tantelising glimpse to the next segment perhaps?
Very much enjoyed, even if I am like a martian in St Pauls cathederal LOL.......

(The review below was mistakenly put there, thinking it was meant for this. Close. Note; To press the right song player...it apparently has happened to others, with 2 choices of press 'player'.)
Now for this song, very DYNAMIC vocals; beautiful voice; quite the dramatic piano playing-vey bright with lots of EXPRESSION...from gentle touches of the key to a most highly full orchestration..Very powerful song with much emphasis in her vocals that are great...most UPlifting tune. Great production and most fine arrangement. Love this inspiring tune. Lovely.
Great masterful compositiona piece. EXCELLENT.
Great words. Love it.Fabulous artistry David.

Very lovely guitar playing with a most enjoyable female vocalist, so nicely arranged. Good lyrics; relates to a universal feeling. so much from the heart. What a wonderful genuine pure emotive singing. I like the synth -adds nicely to the backup complimenting the guitar and her vocal. This could be very great for a soundtrack for a film.I can envision the scenes so well... so you have altered with great artistry. Now this is SUPERB David. Love it...can easily put a tear in one's eye. A true fave-into my favourites this has to go. Thanks for the pleasure. One of the best sung tunes I've heard here. HIGHLY EXCELLENT. Fantastic composition David. -Your friend. -Vesa.

Very dynamic production Dave! Almost has that stage/drama feel to it. Again, all your music I've listened to so far has kept me on the edge of my seat. This one is no exception... that gal can really belt it out. That's some power in her voice! Your piano playing on this is forceful and emotive. Bravo man!

I live in Ohio where I am a practicing Psychologist http://davidcdealphd.com/ . My favorite instruments are an array of keyboards, however I also enjoy playing acoustic guitar. I currently perform in a Trans-Siberian Orchestra tribute band named Siberian Solstice. www.siberiansolstice.com ,
I have released two CD’s, “Harmonic Space” and “Transformations.” “Harmonic Space” is a clinically based CD that aids people in coping with anxiety and sleep disorders. “Transformations” is a concept album that is both a spiritual autobiography and, hopefully, a spiritual vessel. The songs from Transformations have deep, emotional, and spiritual intent. I continue to write, record, produce, and collab and have also posted many of these songs.
My musical styles are said to range from those of progressive rock bands such as YES and Pink Floyd to Broadway musicals such as those of Andrew Lloyd Weber. I often add a little bit of Jazz and Classical flavoring. I have recently been mixing my acoustic guitar roots with more progressive elements.
A Word from David:
I have been blessed with many artistic and musical friends who have offered their talents to my recordings. Some of the musicians who played on the posted songs include Les Brooke, Tom Hannah, Tim Vargo, Andrew Vargo, Cynthia Lugo, Andrea Bok, David Coonrod, Ned Clark, Kevin Peters, Kristin Sorensen, William O’Connell, Ked Deiter, Mack Sanders, Rob Hanlon, Richard Gonzales, Bob Ross, Pat Ross, Michael Duryee, Nigel Potter, Joseph Rodriguez, P.E.Bailey, Carol Sue Kirkpatrick, Bill Smith, Buddrumming, Rasmuth, Jolee, Terry Wigmore and John Else, I want to extend special thanks to Arthur Kills Straight Putnam who wrote and recorded all of the native flute parts which follow each song in “Transformations”.
Finally, I want to say a special thanks to David Coonrod. He plays incredible bass on many of the posted songs and has been an awesome collaborator and friend. At this point I would hardly be willing to release any musical arrangement without passing it by his ears for suggestions etc. A talented, selfless friend and a musical compadre.
Transformation Cover Message:
"Sometimes, in the midst of a perfectly ordinary day, one is unexpectedly flooded by the magnificence of “what is.” Perhaps that moment of awareness and clarity arrives while watching a storm or absorbing a piece of art or kneeling with intention in a church. If blessed, echoes of the past and visions of the future fade from existence as the unknowing silence of the infinite present emerges. With patience and grace, one comes to know the incredible richness of “what is” as a revelation of God’s face, and the mind is forever transformed into a mirror of creation." . . . .
